Should my scouts be searching countries that do not have active leagues or is this a waste of time?

Yes, because the players still exist, you just can't play as the teams in that league. Scouts will still find players from that league no matter what. Even if the leagues aren't playable in the game without a database update, they will still find players.

also, if you are 100% knowledgable in a given country, lets say South Korea, you then are also able to see any newgen players or staff that get created if you do a player or staff search. If you arent 100% you probably wont see these players/staff.

I found this out by getting very annoyed the fact that i couldnt find any scouts from the Oceania region - turned out that i had not got any knowledge in that continental region at all, so i scouted it for a few months (started with the bigger countries like Australia and New Zealand) then after a couple of months there were loads of players and staff that i could see from a search.

Just something to note however, if you cant/dont want to buy player from a particulaer country (because of work permit issues or tha fact that the younger players cant sign for you unless they are over 18 by which time their potential has decreased coz they havent been playing decent level football), then dont scout that region, ive stopped scouted Africa for example as i dislike my players leaving for African Nation Cup and also have work permit and language issues.

Its a good idea to know when the regen dates are and make sure your scouts are 100% in that country before the regen date, that helps alot !

Many thanks everyone. I was unsure because my South American scouts continually scout Peru, Chile, etc.. and never return with any reports. Do I need to continue to scout to increase my knowledge to 100%? Thanks again.

basically if your knowledge isnt 100% in a given country, then you wont see 100% of the available players and staff that play/work in that country, knowledge fades in around a couple of weeks so unless your scout was born or used to play in that country, his knowledge of a newly scouted country will fade after a few weeks and you will need to rescout ASAP. bear in mind that some scouts take 2-3 months to scout a country from zero but if your knowledge is say 60%, it will only take a few weeks to get upto 100%.

So basically, ensure that you have one scout that is 100% in the best countries BEFORE the regen dates, that way, you will see all the regens in the search screen when they are generated. Its really best if you have a scout only knowledgeable in 5 or 6 countries and keep them rescouting the ones when they get below 75%.

Be aware also that scouts dont necessarily report back with knowledge on EVERY player in a coutry, only the decent ones that they rate. The key is to get a scout to 100% knowledge in a country then search yourself and then get your best scout to rescout the players that you may want to buy.
