What will Ashcroft United win? (14 votes)

Jimmy Bullard. Attempted a managerial career, and failed. Attempted a playing career, and... well you be the judge of that. But now, The Bull is back. But he's taking it one step further. Hopefully for more than one night only, Jimmy Bullard is: THE DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL.

However, there was one problem with his new career. After contacting every professional club in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, he couldn't find a club. That's right, even Portsmouth rejected him. Bullard was stuck, clubless, and jobless. So enter Robbie Savage, footballing dynamo and legend. Savage also wants to get a role at a club, but also can't. So what do they do? Being the legends that they are, they form a club. They form ASHCROFT UNITED.

ASHCROFT UNITED

Ashcroft United were founded in 2013 by Jimmy Bullard and Robbie Savage, with Bullard taking the Director of Football role and Savage becoming the chairman. The team were somehow able to get placed into the nPower League 2, after the sudden collapse of Southend FC. The team play in blue and white, at the Ashcroft Arena. Bullard and Savage were able to put in £25,000,000 for the club to spend on players and wages, so expect a spending spree coming soon!

Splashing The Cash!

So they had the money, they had the club. But they didn't have players. They needed players, and quick. There was only a month until the season started, but they managed to get a team, a team with potential to win the league.

Goalkeepers:

Mikkel Anderson - 23 years old - Signed from Reading for £375k
Brian Murphy - 29 years old - Signed from QPR for £600k
Sam Johnstone - 19 years old - Signed from Manchester United for £200k

Very happy with the goalkeepers I was able to get, and had offers from a lot more too. Johnstone will be my player for the future, but will still be placed in the first team. I think Murphy may get the edge of Andersen for the first team space, but both goalkeepers will get a lot of game time.

Defenders:

Paul Connolly - 28 years old - Signed from Leeds for £100k
Eric Lichaj - 23 years old - Signed from Aston Villa for £375k
Alan Tate - 29 years old - Signed from Swansea for £1.1m
Luke Shaw - 17 years old - Signed from Southampton for £3.5m
Simon Lappin - 29 years old - Signed from Norwich for £675k

Although I need to get two more defenders, which I will do and then update this section, I am very happy with some of my buys. I feel Lichaj was a bargain for the potential he has, and Tate will be a solid performer for me this season. Shaw is one of my biggest buys, and although I paid a bit more than I wanted to, he's still definitely worth it. Watch out for him in the future!

Midfielders:

Anton Robinson - 26 years old - Signed from Huddersfield for £230k
Boudewign Zenden - 31 years old - Signed as a Free Agent for £0
Prince Bauben - 24 years old - Signed from Watford for £400k
Brian Howard - 29 years old - Signed from Portsmouth for £140k
Ryan Harley - 27 years old - Signed from Brighton for £650k
Mark Yeates - 27 years old - Signed from Watford for £350k
Bebe - 22 years old - Signed from Manchester United for £1.1m
Robert Pires - 38 years old - Signed as a Free Agent for £0

I have a fairly solid midfield, with the likes of Bebe, Harley and Bauben all available. And to top it off, I've only gone and got two footballing legends, Zenden and PIRES!

Strikers:

Chris O'Grady - 26 years old - Signed from Sheffield Wednesday for £530k
Chris Brown - 27 years old - Signed from Doncaster for £240k
Carlos Fierro - 18 years old - Signed from Chivas for £5m
Joshua King - 20 years old - Signed from Manchester United for £1.5m
Jonathan Forte - 20 years old - Signed from Southampton for £400k

I paid a bit too much for Fierro in my opinion, although he should still be worth the money, and can form a great partnership with King for many years. O'Grady and Brown will be used as subs,as Forte can be used everywhere when needed.
Good luck Devil, should be interesting!

Where the hell did Savage get 25m from? lol
If a club collapsed I think the 22th position team from last year would be back rather than a new club.

In any case, its a new concept, so good luck! :D

Edit: The banner looks superb, btw.
