February Nominations
Another thrilling month on the Manager Stories front has gone by. It is now time for the Story of the Month poll. Who will you vote for? Here are the five stories nominated by he judging panel:
Blue's Lothar Mathaus - A New Challenge (re-named)
Since last month (irl), a lot has happened in this thrilling adventure. Sporting continued their thrilling run of wins and claimed no less than four trophies. They defeated every team on their path to winning the league, league cup, cup and the Europa League. The Europa League final was contested between Sporting and Dortmund and ended in a thrilling 3-2 win for Sporting. Matthaus made himself a club legend! Matthaus announced his intentions to stay at the club for another season. However, tensions were rising between him and the Sporting board. The next season started with Sporting winning the Portuguese Super Cup and the UEFA Super Cup (over Barcelona) to further increase Matthaus' and Sporting's trophy tally. There were reports of Matthaus being unsettled in Portugal and it was a timely event when Bielsa was sacked from his post at Man Utd. Matthaus jumped at the opportunity and took the job. He started off his reign in England with wins against Norwich and Newcatle. More to come from this thrilling story!
The FM Rookie's KuPS - The Rocky Road To Glory
Since last month (irl), Nick Johnson's KuPS went on to win the league undefeated, win the cup again and finished fourth in their Champions League group. A lot of rogress was made by the Finnish club. Johnson signed unknown French midfielder, Vincent Dubois, to raise KuPS' ability. KuPS went on to win the league, league cup a cup for a third time that season. They also reached the Champions League group stage where they finished fourth again. The next season went by the same lines with another domestic treble for KuPS and they finished forth in the Champions League group again, although they were just a point off third-placed Fenerbahce. Vincent Dubois scored an outstanding thirty-four goals that season, gaining interest from reputable clubs such as Leeds Utd and Udinese. In to the fifth seasonunder Nick Johnson, KuPS have won a fifth consecutive League Cup and are preparing for the league and cup seasons. What else can they accomplish? Only one way to find out!
Murtagh's From Napoli to United - Red Devils Time!
Napoli are a club of history and former glory. They want to get back to the biggest stage in Europe and compete for the ultimate prize, the Champions League. When young Portuguese manager Jack Whte took over, he invisioned a bright future for the Italian side. He brought in his ideas and quickly went around making Napoli a formidable side. His first season ended in triumph as he finished second in the Serie A, aswell as winning the Europa League after a tightly contested affair with Tottenham in the final. Signing Witsel and Shawcross proved to strengthen the team is they battled for the title in their second season with White in charge. They managed a superb title victory and they also won the cup. They performed well in the Champions League where it took extra time for Manchester United to knock them out of the quarter finals. In the third season, Napoli were crowned Italian champions again but lost in the cup final. However, they managed a historic win against Barcelona in the Champions League final to be crowned champions of Europe. Mission accomplished for Jack White and he took over the Man Utd job from the retired Sir Alex Ferguson. He started his season brightly with four wins from five. More to come!
Glenn T's David Beckham: From Hero to Zero
After his footballing career came to a sudden stop, David Beckham made the decision to go in to management and took over English Premier League strugglers, Aston Villa. He went around selling the weaker players and bringing in quality, younger players to build for the future while also boosting the current quality in the squad. The start of the season proved to be very tough for the Birmingham-based club as they struggled to put any sort of form together. They quickly found themselves in the relegation zone and the players were looking devestated. David Beckham decided that enough was enough and called for the squad to fight for their places. This lifted the squad and since then, Aston Villa have been unbeaten in four games. Can they climb out of danger? We will have to wait and see!
MarkKolatowicz's Dundee United - The Arabs Taking Over
Mark Kolatowicz took over Scottish side Dundee United with the goal of becoming the greatest team in the world. To do that, first he had to become the best in Scotland and Celtic stood in his way. Could he topple the green and white giants? He quickly wentabout signing many Brazilians as he signed Mattheus, Ademilson, Wallace, Adryan and Doria. They all had amazing potential and would help Dundee United become one of the greats teams. After some dramatic Europa League qualifiers, Dundee United made it to the group stages. However, these games cost Dundee Utd in the league as they struggled to gain any form early on. With a couple more signings and a new found focus, Dundee Utd built a run of wins together and instantly shot up the table. It took Dundee Utd no time what-so-ever to stat battling Celtic for top spot and they suddenly went top of the league. They also claimed the League Cup with a 2-0 winover the main league rivals and they were in the Europa League Last Sixteen against bitter enemies, LOSC Lille. They continued to battle on in the league but were unlucky to finish second behind Celtic. However, they managed some incredible victories to reach the Europa League Final where they will face Liverpool. Can they win? We will have to wait to see!
