Nice CV I wonder who's going to get the job I'm really enjoying the story so far, so keep up the good work and keep posting updates!
It is confirmed that the 25 year old, completely unknown Englishman Joshua Sleightholm has been appointed Head Coach of Olympique Lyonnais. The board have announced he had what they were looking for despite is lack of experience playing or managing. Sleightholm had stated in a press conference he was over the moon with the boards decision, however he had said he felt sorry for Arsene Wenger who had been beaten by a 'nobody'. This is Akash Vidyasagar reporting for Sky Sports News.
9am, Monday 2nd July 2012, Chairman's Office, Stade de Gerland, Lyon, France...
As I walk down what seems to be the never ending corridor I tell myself not to buy that Right-Guard deodorant again, I'm sweating like a pig. This must be what all new managers experience. I finally reach a door with the name 'Jean-Michel Aulas' upon it. I knock and wait...
Come in! I heard from the other side of the door, so I entered...
Jean-Michel Aulas Josh Sleightholm Bruno Génésio
"Welcome, Mr.Sleightholm, please take a seat"
"Thank you, sir."
"So, we have the contract signed and you are now manager of Olympique Lyonnais, well done! I have 100% trust in you to take this club up, as do the board, you have our full backing."
"Thank you, I'm looking forward to working with this club and achieving big things, and i would like to thank you personally for taking time out your busy schedule and coming to welcome me to this fantastic club.
"It's my pleasure, Josh. A key part of management is keeping the fans happy, and they'd be impressed if they knew their recently appoint manager has taken time out to read about the history of his club, would you like me to send you a quick email explaining it all?"
"Yes! That'd be brilliant thanks."
"Ok, now, here's the difficult part, the board and I have agreed that a Wage Budget of £523K would be sufficient and a transfer budget of £0."
"Ahaha! You are a funny man Jean-Michel! But in all seriousness, what will my budget be?"
"£0."
"Oh, I see, well, I'm afraid I'll need more than that, but we can discuss that later."
"Of course, yes, so it's traditional for new managers to hold a press conference at their new club, would you like one set up for, lets say, tomorrow?"
"Yes, yes, it will give me a chance to say hello to our fans properly."
"Ok, thank you for being here Josh, I'll now let you speak with your Assistant Manager."
"Ok, see you later."
*Aulas leaves the room*
"Welcome to the club Boss! I'm Bruno, your AM, will there be anything you will be requiring?"
"No, not at the moment Bruno, but I shall inform you of anything I may need later, but for now, I have to be somewhere, see you later."
Today is my last full day in England for a week as I will be away playing football, so this story will have to be stopped for a while, however I ask that some of you, now and then comment on this story to keep it alive when I'm gone. I'd appreciate it a lot guys, but until tonight I will try and get as many updates out as possible.
"Good morning all! Sorry to drag you here this early in the morning, but I'd like to introduce myself as early as possible, I'm your new head coach, Josh, pleased to meet you all."
*Various 'Morning's' come from the room*
"I want to take this chance to tell you how we are going to play this season, I've watched you all in training, and my style fits in perfect with your style, and it pleases Aslaus, so it's good all round. Basically, pass, move, pass, move, pass move, killer ball, goal. There is no way on earth that can fail, you boys know how to do it, this season, Ligue 1 is ours!"
*Team stand up and cheer*
"Okay, okay, calm down boys, thank you, for those words Josh, may I ask who will be taking up captaincy this season?"
"Yes yes, Lisandro, you shall be captain for this season, and Anthony, you are vice. If there are any problems, I will call up a 3rd and 4th person to take command. I expect you to lead your team to glory."
"Of course sir."
"Yes boss."
That's all good then, see you all in training. I will pin a list of friendlies up for you all to see, and some of you expect to be in my office, not necessarily for anything bad. Thanks boys."
28.7.12 - Champions Trophy Olympique Lyon vs Montpellier HSC
"Hello there, my name is Derek Rae, and welcome to ESPN, today we are bringing you live coverage of the Champions Trophy, where League winners Montpellier take on French Cup winners Lyon. Kick off is imminent, so me and my commentary partnerJohn Barnesare going to take a quick look at the team line ups..."
"Interesting, both teams look like they want to control the ball in the middle, Montpellier have put 5 in the middle, meanwhile Lyon have put a DM in, to link the back four and midfield, so they can play around with it there. Attacking wise, Lyon will be stronger, but it depends on what instructions the Montpellier midfield will have been given and whether to push up further or not, either way this is going to be an exciting match, over to you Derek."
"Thanks John, we are going into the match now."
0' - Montpellier Kick Off
5' - Camera with the ball on the right hand-side, he tries to beat Ra?, good defending there, showing him to the side line, Oh but he's beaten him! Camara faked right and cut inside into the box, he carries on that run, no pressure from the Lyon defense, Camara stops and turns away from the two big figures of Lyon's defense and plays it to Saihi, he plays it down the wing to Bocaly, he plays it to Camara, then to Saihi, back out to Bocaly again, great passing by Montpellier, Bocaly cuts inside but tackled by Ra? and the balls cleared, great move from Montpellier in the first 5 minutes!"
40' - Montpellier Goal Kick, it only finds Gourcuff's head, he flips it back to Bisevac, who heads it into the oppositions half, it reaches Gonzalez's feet, he makes a darting run down the middle, he has to options to the right of him, he goes to strike it!? Wide! Terrible effort from him there.
45' Halftime, both teams haven't made the best chances, a slightly boring half, let's hope for a better half when me and John return after the break.
"Hello and welcome back to us on ESPN, so, the first half has been played and it currently stands at 0-0, we hope this half isn't as boring as the first, here we go, Lyon are kicking off.
45' - Lyon Kick Off
50' - Camara with the ball, he cuts inside as he has been all day, he runs across the edge of the 18 yard box, stops, turns, he leaves the defenders for dead, he takes a touch, shoots!? GOOOOOOOOAL! Superb solo run from Camara there, 1-0 Montpellier!
52' - Lyon are making some changes, youngsters Jordan Ferri, and Alexandre Laczette replace Gonalons and Gonzalez. Could Sleightholm be about to spring a tactical surprise?
55' - Bocaly with the ball, he makes a surging run from deep, goes for glory!? Wide, unlucky effort, Montpellier are wanting more!
60' - Lyon have a corner, Gourcuff swings it in, meets the head of Ra?!? Oooo! Just over the crossbar, can get back into this?
65' - Ra? plays it past Saihi, passes to Gourcuff on his right, he plays it to Lopez, first time pass to Mvuemba, Mvuemba's touch finds Briand, he flicks it to Lopez, Lopez shoots!? Held by the Montpellier keeper, not a bad effort from Lyon.
72' - Briand with the ball at the halfway line, he has a little run, plays it right to the feet of Mvuemba, to Lacazette who is surrounded by defenders, he manages to wriggle away from them, shoots!? GOOOOOOOOAL! Lyon have got the equaliser from the substitute! Josh Sleightholm's going crazy! Can Lyon get the winner?
76' - Ra? with the throw in, plays it to Gourcuff's feet, passes to Mvuemba, who looks out right to Lacazette, he slips in Ferri, he's pretty much one on one, he shoots!? Oh! The keeper saves it with his feet, and it's cleaned up by the Montpellier defense. So close for Lyon, they certainly are piling on the pressure.
80' - Vercoute plays it to Ra? from the goal kick, he knocks it inside to Mvuemba, he plays it back to him, Ra? tries to spot another pass, but plays it back to Mvuemba, Mvuemba turns and switches the play to the right, Reveillere receives it, plays it forward to Briand, who darts up the wing, and puts in a cross! The defenders head it away, it get's as far as Lacazette, who is immediately put under pressure by Bocaly, who goes in for the tackle...He's gone down! Penalty! Lyon get the decision, surely the cup is theirs!
82' - Lopez steps up to take the penalty, shoots, GOOOOOOOOAL! Lyon have made a terrific comeback!
84' - Bedimo receives the ball, hard tackle by Reveillere, that'll be a booking? And it its, free kick to Montpellier on the halfway line.
85' - Gomis replaces the goalscorer Lopez, I think he's picked up a knock.
90+3' - Pitau with the ball, Montpellier looking for the equaliser, back to Estrada, who hoofs it forward, intercepted by Rat, and cleared.
90+4 - Full-Time, Olympique Lyonnais are the winners! A brilliant come back from them!
"Well what an exciting match we've just had Derek, it's been at tale of two halfs, Lyon didn't really show up until the second, but still managed to nab the trophy away from Montpellier. Interviews with Josh Sleightholm, and Man of the match Alexandre Lacazette will be here shortly, thank you and goodbye."
