Van der Sar: Exclusive interview

“Welcome Edwin, so how are you doing after retiring from football ?”.

“Well thanks I’ve been doing fine and I have gained my coaching badges and I am ready to get back into football”.

“Well that’s great have you got a certain club in mind?”.

“No not yet but if I receive any offers then I will take them straight away”.

“Will it be a coaching or a managerial job that will interest you more?”.

“I would prefer to go straight into management as I have worked under the best managers in the game so I believe I can take little bits from each one and go on to be a top manager”.

“Manchester United?”.

(Laughs) “No no I will not be taking over Man United but later on if they came calling I would be willing to take the job but for now the club is in safe hands”.

“Where are you looking for a managerial post?”.

“Well I would like a job in Holland but anywhere in Europe would be fantastic”.

“Well that’s great and from us at SkySports we wish you the best of luck in the future, Thank you”.

“Thank you”.

I then took my microphone off and headed back to my car where I was heading to pick my daughter up from school. The phone suddenly rang and it was my old manager Sir Alex Ferguson,

“Hey Edwin great interview and I’ve just heard about a job going in Holland at a promising club named Vitesse. You interested?”.

“We yes of course”. I said excitedly.

“Well I will put you in contact with the club and I try to get them to ring you back, okay”.

“Yes that’s brilliant thanks boss”.

I put down the phone and realized I was late to pick my daughter up. Shit!!!! I slammed down the peddle and headed straight to her school. I arrived and I was 15 minutes late. The school were not happy. I then told them that there was a possibility about us leaving for Holland and they then said they needed 5 months’ notice to let my daughter out of school. I put her in the car and headed home to my wife to tell her the good news.

Getting in touch

I sat down for tea with my family and the phone rang. It was Vitesse Fc wanting me to come over to Holland for an interview about the vacant managerial post. Of course I accepted it and got the first flight out to Holland were a chauffeur was waiting for me to take me to the ground.

I had got to the ground and I was invited into the boardroom and was asked to take a seat.

“So we at this promising club want you to lead the club into a new age and make this club a European powerhouse”.

“I would be delighted to take the reins at this club and I believe we can work together to make one great club”.

“Well that’s great. Our vision for the club is that we will have won the league in 3 years and we will be in the Champions league and win that within 7 years”.

“Well they are very big ambitions but I hope we can do this together”.

“Okay then we will get the contract and you go and have a look around the ground and make yourself aware of the history of the club”.

I took a walk around a magnificent modern stadium and the club had the foundations to become a great club. The team had never been successful but with the right choices and hard work we can become great.

I was then told to enter the boardroom for the signing of my contract:

Client will be receiving £25000 p/w and will be at Vitesse FC LTD until 31/6/13.

“Please sign here” said the chairman.

Edwin Van der Sar

That was it I was managing my first team and I was looking forward to getting to work.

The First Day

I arrived at the training ground early for a small tour and the facilities were very good. I then headed out to prepare for my first training session. All I wanted to do today was get to know the players and see were their best positions were. They all arrived with smiles on their faces which was good to see.

“Hello boys most of you will know me but I want to introduce myself to you properly. I want to achieve big things with this club and I believe it can. We have some cracking players at the minute and I want to finish in the top 4 of the league to gain continental football next season. Are you all with me?”.

A big raw of cheers came out from the bunch so we got down to business and began the day of training. I later went to meet the board and we agreed they gave me a £6.5M transfer budget and a £65K P/W wage budget.
I was so proud to have a team of my own and the club has real potential.

Next Update : Pre Season.
Nice start, will be interesting to see how well Sir Alex has tutored Edwin!

A Focus on Youth

We at Vitesse Fc will be focusing on our youth teams in a bid to help with the future of the club and we are starting by upgrading the youth facilities of the club. Manager, Van der Sar is said to be delighted to have quality youth systems in place to help him develop the club into a European powerhouse.
“The facilities at the club are already very good and we have big ambitions here and we want to be able to develop our own players to help with the growth of the football club. I want to be a big part in the future of this club and I will oversee the development of the facilities and have them exactly how I need them. I will also attend youth matches and invite them to train with the first team to help them develop better and have more experience.
