Van der Sar: Exclusive interview
“Welcome Edwin, so how are you doing after retiring from football ?”.
“Well thanks I’ve been doing fine and I have gained my coaching badges and I am ready to get back into football”.
“Well that’s great have you got a certain club in mind?”.
“No not yet but if I receive any offers then I will take them straight away”.
“Will it be a coaching or a managerial job that will interest you more?”.
“I would prefer to go straight into management as I have worked under the best managers in the game so I believe I can take little bits from each one and go on to be a top manager”.
“Manchester United?”.
(Laughs) “No no I will not be taking over Man United but later on if they came calling I would be willing to take the job but for now the club is in safe hands”.
“Where are you looking for a managerial post?”.
“Well I would like a job in Holland but anywhere in Europe would be fantastic”.
“Well that’s great and from us at SkySports we wish you the best of luck in the future, Thank you”.
“Thank you”.
I then took my microphone off and headed back to my car where I was heading to pick my daughter up from school. The phone suddenly rang and it was my old manager Sir Alex Ferguson,
“Hey Edwin great interview and I’ve just heard about a job going in Holland at a promising club named Vitesse. You interested?”.
“We yes of course”. I said excitedly.
“Well I will put you in contact with the club and I try to get them to ring you back, okay”.
“Yes that’s brilliant thanks boss”.
I put down the phone and realized I was late to pick my daughter up. Shit!!!! I slammed down the peddle and headed straight to her school. I arrived and I was 15 minutes late. The school were not happy. I then told them that there was a possibility about us leaving for Holland and they then said they needed 5 months’ notice to let my daughter out of school. I put her in the car and headed home to my wife to tell her the good news.
