Fiorentina: An Insight

ACF Fiorentina, commonly referred to as simply Fiorentina, is a professional Italian football club from Florence, Tuscany. Founded by a merger in 1926 (refounded in 2002 following bankruptcy), Fiorentina have played at the top level of Italian football for the majority of their existence; only four clubs have played in more Serie A seasons.

Fiorentina have won two Italian Championships, in 1955–56 and again in 1968–69, as well as winning six Coppa Italia trophies and one Italian Super Cup. On the European stage, Fiorentina won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1960–61 and lost the final one year later. They finished runners-up in the 1956–57 European Cup, losing against Real Madrid, and also came close to winning the UEFA Cup, finishing as runners-up in the 1989–90 season.

Since 1931, the club have played at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, which currently has a capacity of 47,282. The stadium has used several names over the years and has undergone several renovations. Fiorentina are known widely by the nickname Viola, a reference to their distinctive purple colours.

Batistuta Backs Kolatowicz

Former Fiorentina legend Gabriel Batistuta has today confirmed that he will be back new manager Mark Kolatowicz to succeed at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. "I think Mark is the perfect man for the job, no-one knows anything about him and what he will he bring but that excites me. He has a inherited a good squad with Stevan Jovetic a very bright prospect for the future and of course new signing Rossi, when injury free will look to hurt any defence in Serie A. I seriously think we can maintain a real title challenge this season and look forward to seeing my old club getting their hands on some silverware"

Kolatowicz Meets The Media

Mark Kolatowicz faced the media today for the first time as ACF Fiorentina boss today as he attended a press conference to announce his new role. Kolatowicz fielded a range of a questions such as the new job and his management style from the likes of The Italian Football Informer, The Italian Football Review, The Florence Football Times, The Italian Football Post and Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian Football Informer choose the main focal point for the conference with journalist Davide Riccio asking, "What would you say is your tactical approach to the game?"

Kolatowicz replied calmly, saying: "Football is about entertainment and that is what i promise the ACF Fiorentina fans."

Davide Riccio then went to ask, "Do you have any transfer targets in mind at this moment?"

Kolatowicz replied positively, saying "We have already agreed to sign a player from Norway, we wont name the player at this time until all correct boxes have been ticked and its official. On that note i would also like to say that Stevan Jovetic is not for sale for any price."

It is belived that Stevan Jovetic is a target for Rafa Benítez manager of Chelsea and will understandably be disapointed by the news from today.
Batistuta was great.

The Norwegain Xavi Arrives

Mark Kolatowicz today introduced tireless midfielder Ruben Yttergard Jenssen to the media at Artemio Franchi with Corriere dello Sport, The Italian Football Informer, The Italian Football Review, The Florence Football Times and The Italian Football Post in attendance to see the new signing from Tromso.

The Italian Post chose the main focal of the conference by asking, "What impact, if any, will this signing have on the rest of the team?"

Mark Kolatowicz replied calmly "I am confident that it will be a massive boost to the whole team."

Jenssen, arrives for a fee of £1,900,000 and has signed a five year deal worth £17,000 per week and has a £1,700 appearance fee, the contract also includes a goal bonus set at £425. If Jenssen makes into the team of the year selection he will gain a fee of £68,000.

Pre-Season: Getting To Know The Team

I decided to use 1 tactic for all 5 friendlies uncluding the bounce game with our reserves, i want the team to be 100% familiar with this tactic for this season and the many seasons to come so we can become a great force in Europe. Its a simple 4-3-2-1 tactic which looks to control the game in all areas of the pitch from the start whistle to the final whistle.

Monthly Thoughts, October Preview

I was very happy with the results we managed to get throughout september, alot of people had us wrote off against Udinese and to go out and put 5 past them was something special, alos the Lazio game was a really great point for us to get as we were trailing 3-0 at half time.

Going into October now we only have three games to play and they will be against Torino, Inter Milan and Catania, to be honest i feel all three of these games are winable with the form we are currently in and we dont really fear anyone anyway, we want to regain 1st place again which we held for a short while whilst Juventus has a game to catch up on.
Doing very well, Mark! Keep it up! :)

Kolatowicz Always Looking Towards The Future

Having only been at the club for just over two months, Kolatowicz has already set up about bringing in players for the future, He has no more than 4 players signed up already and will join the club at later dates.

"I always look towards the future, i have always been that way, i dont always agree that buying one player for say £15,000,000 is the correct way to go when you could sing up maybe 5-6 young players with already good ability but great potential."

/

Alen Halilovic 16, will be joining ACF Fiorentina in 2014 as he is currently unable to move until he turns 18. He will join for a £1,000,000 and has agreed a 3 year deal until 2017. The young croatian has already set a trail of records. In September this year he made his debut for Dinamo - becoming the youngest player in Croatian history. Ten days later he scored, making him the youngest ever scorer, and Kolatowicz will be hoping he can continue to break records when he joins his club.

N/A/

Lessinho 17, the young right back from Flamengo will join the the club shorty after January 2014, he has signed a contract for 3 years until 2017 after both clubs agreed a fee of £750,000, Lessihno is relatively unknown to many but Kolatowicz has seen something he likes in him and hopes to turn him into a leading right back in the future.

/

Nicolás Tagliafico 20, is a left back currently playing for Banfield but has been loaned out to Murcia to learn his trade. He will most likely be loaned out for the first season when he joins to get more game time and then he will be used as a first team regular.

/

Nicusor Stanciu 19, another unknown signing for Kolatowicz but again one with bags on potential which has been recognised by the scouts at Fiorentina and was snapped up.

very smart signings, planning for the future.
Great signings there, Mark. They will do well :)
