[FM12] Rise of the U's

This is an FM12 story because I haven't had the chance to buy FM13 yet, but I'm posting it here because nobody reads the FM12 sections. Just wanted to clarify that.

On this save file, I'm going to be unknown 25 year-old English manager Adam Drayton. The team I'm going to manage is Sutton United, as they're in good financial health for BSN/S. They also have a decent-sized stadium for this level. They have a league prediction of 13th though, that's what makes this more of a challenge.

I can see from a glance that this squad needs some more young players. I'm going to need to revamp the squad in order to gain promotion.

In order to help me do this, I've organized a few money-making friendlies. Since I don't particularly care about winning them, I've decided to leave them in the hands of my assistant coach.

I'll update when pre-season ends.

(Also, I agree that "The U's" is a stupid nickname.)

Overall pretty solid, beat everyone I expected to beat and a higher league side as well. The pre-season shows me that I shouldn't have too much trouble beating teams from my own league, but will struggle against higher league teams. Of course, pre-season isn't always the best way to measure things like this...

Pretty proud of some of the signings I've managed to pull off here, especially Pablo Counago and Jamil Adam who I know are great signings for higher-level teams as well. Gilpin and Lozano-Calderon turn out to be good as well, had some success with them in the past as well.

Overall

Overall this was a pretty good month for my team, could have gone a bit better but I'm still happy with it.

This was a great month overall. Four wins, and three of those matches I expected to lose. I was disappointed with the loss and the draw, but if the team can continue this form, they should be able to at least reach the playoff spots (where I am currently)

Man of the Month

Pablo Counago

Counago, as I predicted, has been our star player throughout the first month. He has scored almost half of our team's goals, and leads the league in that respect with 8 goals in 6 matches (four of which came from the Welling game) He also has 3 man of the match awards to his name already, and has an average rating of 8.03, the highest in the league. Other notable players: Jamil Adam, 2 goals and 6 assists in 6 games, with an average rating of 7.77; and Sebastien Carole who has 3 goals and 2 assists from 6 games with an average rating of 7.53, as well as 2 MoM awards.

Overall

Overall I couldn't really have expected to do so well, especially with the large amount of goals my team has scored, even more than the unbeaten league leader Salisbury City.

Next Month

Next month has both fairly easy matches and hard ones. The month opens with a home game versus Woking who are a place ahead of me, on the 3rd. The other matches should be relatively easy, except the third one which will be an away game versus Eastleigh, who are currently in 2nd place in the league.

I'm very proud of my team and the fact that they've won all five matches during this month, especially the Maidenhead and Eastleigh games where we had to come back from behind. Because of these results, I'm now 1st in the league. I'm currently only one point ahead of the second-placed team, but 5 points ahead of the 3rd placed team.

My best left-back is out with an injury for 5-6 weeks, but I'm generally getting pretty good luck with the injuries.

Counago is my man of the month again, picking up another Man of the Match award, as well as 5 more goals and a few assists. His average rating for the month was 7.98.

Overall

This month really couldn't have been better, except for maybe conceding less goals in the Maidenhead game. As I've said before, I'm delighted with Counago's and Jamil Adam's form in recent games, I hope that they'll continue to be as good for me as I progress through the leagues.

Good start to the campaign

I've decided that maybe it would be easier to do updates to the story every 2-3 months instead of every month, that way, even though the updates will be longer in the making, it will go faster in the long run.

These results were disappointing. Even with the first and the last games, I thought I didn't deserve the wins. My team played poorly, but Adam and Lozano-Calderon continue to look that they'll continue to be crucial to my side.

Only now do I realize how low their stats are, but they all have been performing great for me, and I know for sure Jamil Adam can become a good Championship player


Overall this month could have gone much better, but at least I'm still in the title contention.

The results this month were solid, all the wins were deserved and even though we lost one match, that wasn't a real goal, that was a penalty that my left-back gave away.
