Who should be the manager? (13 votes)

Watford FC

Watford Football Club is an English professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire. It is often referred to as Watford F.C., Watford, or by the team's nickname The Hornets. Founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers, the club entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1886, and the Southern League a decade later. After finishing the 1914–15 season as Southern League champions under the management of Harry Kent, Watford joined The Football League in 1920. The club played at several grounds in its early history, before moving to a permanent location at Vicarage Road in 1922, where it remains to this day. Watford spent most of the following half century in the lower divisions of The Football League, changing colours and crest on multiple occasions.

The reason why I have picked Watford is because they're one of my local teams in North London. Also I love their stadium and the fact that football manager is their sponsor.

Shock appointment

Earlier this morning Watford FC announced Arsenal legend Tony Adams as their new manager following the departure of Zola after just a few days he was appointed as the new manager. Reports say Zola quit Vicarage Road for personal reasons and the club has respected his decision.

The replacement Tony Adams does have a bit of experience in management previously coaching Portsmouth commonly known as ''Pompy''. However that was for a very short period of time and now everyone wants to see how he will do at Watford FC. A club who would do anything to get back into the premier league but must be careful as in previous years they've been too close to being relegated into League one.

The Watford board revealed they had two main targets, Adams himself and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer but Shearer publicly stated he wasn't interested in managing after his horror management at Newcastle United.
Nice start, good luck :)
Looking a good start, will be interesting to see how you do after all the loans leave ;)
Good start Seni looking forward to this.
A great start to the story Seni. Watford have been tough opponents for me on my Huddersfield Town save. I am sure you will do well.
Great start Seni :)
Good start seni:D
Great start Seni, but weren't you going to manage Roma :/
thanks for the positive comments, guys, I decided to ditch Roma at the last minute
Good luck Seni! Is FMScout FC still going?

We can shock many

Newly appointed Watford manager Tony Adams has stated that his side can shock many people this season after a successful pre-season seeing them winning and drawing games but not losing.

''I feel that we are ready for the new season, the boys are training hard and we just want to impress people and do are best. In terms of where we will finish in the championship I think we can shock some people.''

Adams has brought in quite a few players but he only signed one while the rest are loan deals. Thomas Eisfield, Nico Yennaris and Matthew Briggs were all signed on loan from Arsenal and Fulham. Vito Mannone was signed for a fee of 1.6 million to give current goalkeeper Manuel Almunia some competition and to possibly replace him. Mathieu Manset was signed on a free transfer.

Watford made an ambitious bid for 42 year old Rivaldo but his wages were just far too much for them to handle. The Hornets first game of the season is a capital one cup fixture vs Torquay. The fans would love a cup run but its very unlikely for Watford to win such a cup with the ''big boys'' in the premier league still around.

Youth is key

Watford manager Tony Adams, has stated in a press conference the importance of trusting in your youth, as they are the future of the club.

Here are his exact words:

You must always focus on the youth, many people think ohh they're too wrong. That's wrong. I was captain of Arsenal when I was around 19 or 20 years old. You must also be very careful how you bring up your youth as they're the future of the football club. Here at Watford we have a plan to bring up our youth players as best as we can. We're set to offer a majority of the youth players pro contracts, and many will be going out on loan to gain first team experience. Some may feature in the Watford first team.

It seems Tony Adam's is taking the same approach his managerial mentor, Arsene Wenger has taken for almost 20 years. Adam's in the same press conference stated he has been spending time talking to Wenger before taking the job. He said Wenger told him not to forget the youth, just like how Wenger didn't forget Adams when he was appointed as captain.
