Carroll Set To Return Home

Newcastle have agreed a deal with Liverpool which, after his loan to West Ham, will see him return to St. James'.

Andy Carroll will return to the club that created him in 2013, the Newcastle website has announced. It has been told that West Ham demanded that he completes his loan before he leaves for Newcastle, meaning that the deal could not take immediate effect.

The website confirmed the deal would be worth £7,000,000, £28 million less then what he went to his current club, Liverpool for. It is believed that Liverpool did not want to sell the Gateshead-born forward back to his youth club as it could seem quite embarrassing due to the cut price.

Alan Shearer was the man responsible for negotiating the deal, and he seemed quite confident that Carroll's return would spark only good things for the Toon:

"I think it's fantastic that we've managed to get Andy for this price, after we lost him for so much. He is a top, top player and, in my opinion, quite underrated. His price tag is dragging him down at the moment, and if he can come back, redeem himself, and show people why he was bought for £35 million, then, I think everyone would be happy."

Carroll himself seemed quite positive on the matter, and agreed with Shearer's comments, believing he had a chance to return to his former self, if not better:

"I've not been anywhere near as good what my price-tag suggests, but I think, if I go back to Newcastle I can make myself worthy of it. I don't want my career to be overshadowed by it. I love Newcastle and the only reason I left was to further my career, but instead, it put me a step or two back. Now it's time to get back on track."

Carroll's performance at West Ham may dictate how the beginning of his second spell at Newcastle will pan out. Can he return to form with the Hammers, will he only ever play at his best with the Magpies, or is he doomed to a career of failure?
Wish this happened irl!

Toon Dominate Friendlies, Europa League, Cisse

As the Preseason ends, Newcastle prepare for an exiting season ahead, but Papiss Cisse's injury could be serious.

Newcastle have been led in to the pre-season with Alan Shearer at the helm, and dominated it, winning every single game. Shearer played with a host of formations (most commonly 4-1-2-1, but 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 were alternatives he used) and gave many players a chance, but still managing to remain undefeated and without a single draw.

Rio Ave 1-4 Newcastle
Y. Gouffran x4 (20, 46, 61, 88)
Y. Gouffran
15/7/2013
'This match was an extraordinary performance from the Toon. Despite conceding early on, the team had the performance to push on, several good balls being played to Yoan Gouffran, who hit four in to the net before the end of the game, showing a lethal touch. Mattheus exceptionally supplied 3 of the assists for the Frenchman's goals.'

Vit. Guimaraes 1-2 Newcastle
Y. Gouffran (6)
M. Sissoko (30)

This game was quite close, in truth, the early goal perhaps winning the game for Newcastle. The first half was action packed, three goals including a volley from Moussa Sissoko left fans exited for the second half, but, alas, very little happened after 45 minutes.

Vit. Setubal 1-3 Newcastle
Sh. Ameobi (4)
A. Campbell x2 (26, 84)
A. Campbell
23/7/2013
Youngster Adam Campbell made a huge difference in this game, his partnership with Shola Ameobi was strong, making Newcastle's win a confident one. Ameobi hammered away an easy goal early on, Campbell taking over the scoring baton and putting his first ever pro goal in the net with a simple shot. Despite Setubal scoring late on, Campbell put in another one to put the win beyond doubt.

Newcastle 2-1 Anderlecht
Mattheus (32)
D. Santon (52)
29/7/2013
A good team performance, but a close result for Newcastle. Mattheus scored his first goal for the club in a goal from outside the box, spurring the team on. The defense was caught off-guard and Anderlecht made a counter attack to put them back on terms, but Davide Santon scored the winning goal in a self-created goal where he cut inside and put the goal in a narrow area.

Newcastle 10-0 South Shields
3/8/2013
C. Tiote z2 (5, 72)
Sh. Ameobi x5 (18, 35, 50, 59, 83)
Y. Cabaye (24)
H. Ben Arfa (28)
H. Vuckic (62)
Sh. Ameobi
'Pure domination for Newcastle, one of the most fluid performances they have ever shown. The opposition were only in Newcastle's half one or twice the entire game. The players looked like they wanted to win it with a series of fantastic, long range goals, but the true star of the show was of course the man who got 5, Shola Ameobi.

Philadelphia 0-2 Newcastle
8/8/2013
M. Haidara (13)
Y. Gouffran (26)
S. Taylor
'This game rounded off Newcastle's preseason as a small squad took the trip across the Atlantic. It was always Newcastle's game despite the balance in possession, an early goal from Massadio Haidara, followed by a header from Gouffran, gave Newcastle the confidence to win the game, a good defensive show from Steven Taylor meaning that they could finish the game with a clean sheet.'

Despite the good results from friendlies, Newcastle have injury worries for their star striker, Papiss Cisse, who, after having a back injury inflicted upon him in training, was flown to London to meet with a specialist. News on how long the injury will last will be coming soon.

The Europa League is a competition that Cisse may want to score in, as it gives Newcastle a chance to build their reputation and get their first trophy in some time. They have drawn Bulgarian team Levski, who they will face in late August.

The Premier League also beckons for Newcastle. Their campaign will start in a matter of days when Swansea visit St. James' Park. Newcastle are favorites to win after their pre-season success, but Swansea manager, Michael Laudrup, is confident on success for the swans.
Great updates and great results. I really enjoy this story so far, keep it up :)
good start dude liking the update style!

More Transfer Movement For The Toon

Newcastle have sold three players and introduced one, with more planned transfers on the way.

Jonas Gutierrez, Danny Simpson and Gabriel Obertan have all left Newcastle for a combined price of £15,500,000, going to FC Porto, Reading and Southampton, respectively. Several players have departed on loan including well-known names like Sammy Ameobi and James Tavernier.

But the newest player to join the Magpies is Ibrahima Sy, a Senegalese Goalkeeper who has not yet played a professional game, spending the entirety of his career thus far in the OM youth team, being only 16. Alan Shearer and Graham Carr must see alot in him, as the club needed to part with £2.3 million to recruit the shot-stopper.

It is believed that Sy will be used as a backup for Tim Krul, and perhaps a future first-team player for the Toon. For now, little is known other than he is happy to have joined, as he announced in his first interview in England.

"I am very happy to join this club, it is ambitious and already quite strong. At the moment, I have to admit they are not one of the best in the country, but they are definitely up there and deserve the Europe spot. I cannot wait to play my first game and I hope I manage to be a regular face, even though Krul is doing a good job here."
