Newcastle United FC

Newcastle United Football Club (often abbreviated to NUFC) is an English professional association football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne. The club was founded in 1892, by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End, and has played at its current home ground, St James' Park, since. The ground was developed into an all-seater stadium in the mid-1990s and now has a capacity of 52,404.[1] The club has been a member of the Premier League for all but two years of the competition's history, and has never dropped below English football's second tier since joining the Football League in 1893. In 2007, long term chairman and owner Sir John Hall sold his share in the club to Mike Ashley.

They have won four League Championship titles and six FA Cups, as well as the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Newcastle United has the ninth highest total of major honours won by an English club.[2] The club's most successful period was between 1904 and 1910, when they won an FA Cup and three of their First Division titles. The club is twentieth club in terms of annual revenue, generating €115.3million in 2012.

They have a fierce local rivalry with Sunderland, and the two clubs have engaged in the Tyne–Wear derby since 1898. The club's traditional kit colours are black and white striped shirts, black shorts and black socks. Their traditional crest takes elements of the city coat of arms which features two seahorses.

Why Newcastle?

I'll be honest with you, I've been really inconsistent with my stories. I end up making one, writing pretty in-depth intros, in the end, having maybe seven or eight updates- but I only get one or two games in to the real season before I feel like It's just not working for me. I think I've made way too many stories, and they are all for the same reason- I just don't really suit the club I'm playing.

I've only ever had two really long FM saves, one in 12 where I got like three years in with LEMANS FC, and the one this year, with Newcastle, which was also three seasons long. As most of you know, I made a 'story' with Newcastle, but it became more like and update... I just posted the results every couple of months, and it became a chore, so I dropped it after a while.

I want to give it a second go, but I'll write it more like I wrote my Sparta story, this time I really wanna keep this one going, so by choosing the club I love I think I can do it.

Who Am I?

I tried to think of someone less obvious, but I wanted to do it as Shearer. I always like to do these stories as an ex-player, and as a Newcastle fan I feel he is the best choice.

Some people might say he is a poor manager as he only lasted like a month in his first job, but I think that he was thrown in to a relegation battle and couldn't really do anything about it, so I think it's realistic for him to get a second chance.

Pardew To Leave Newcastle

In an unexpected turn of events, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew has announced his resignation.

Alan Pardew, manager of Newcastle United, has publicly announced his decision to leave the football club, denying claims that he will be signing a new, long term contract. The London born coach won the premier-league manager of the season award after guiding the North-East club in to a European spot.

Pardew has managed the club since 2010, shortly after his departure as coach from Southampton. Pardew, at first, was not received well by fans as he was the replacement for Chris Hughton, who was a key component to Newcastle's promotion from the Championship. However, Pardew put an end to a line of short-term coaches and began to build a lethal team.

Since then, under Pardew's command, Newcastle has made it's way from being a Championship side to a European team, and questions are asked as to why, after his success he has chosen to leave the club. He has shed little light on the situation, but it doesn't seem like he will reveal anything other than what he already has at the present time.

"I've enjoyed my time here at St. James'. The players are fantastic and the fans are passionate. I am not leaving just to go and join another club, I am leaving for personal reasons, and will be taking a break from management. I will return, at some point, but right now I don't know when."

Pardew has not resigned yet, but he has confirmed that he will by the time pre-season has arrived. The search is on for the next manager for the Magpies, but for now, there are no obvious candidates. It will likely be a while before the new coach is revealed.
Think the manager's gonna be.... Alan Shearer? :P
Newcastle do something right and Mike Ashley mucks it up. Sound familiar?

PS: I'm only commenting so I don't face fatality ;)

'I'm Available' Says Alan Shearer

Match of the Day presenter, Alan Shearer, has spoke of his interest in taking the Newcastle job for the second time.

Alan Shearer, ex-International footballer and current pundit on Match of the Day, has announced that he is leaving Match of the Day and is interested in the Newcastle United job, which is currently vacant following Alan Pardew's announcement to leave the North-East football club.

Shearer returned to the club in 2009 as a manager after a lengthy playing career for Southampton, Blackburn, and of course, the Toon. Shearer's spell as manager was unsuccessful, as he was tasked with saving the outfit from relegation in only a month, an impossible task for the now-41 year old.

After Shearer's sacking as manager, Chris Hughton took over command, leading a successful promotion campaign, winning the Championship and leading the club in to the Premier League confidently. After a bland start, he was promptly sacked, and Alan Pardew took over, much to the anger of the geordies.

Despite the initial dissapointment of the Newcastle fans, Pardew began to build the team and eventually took them to 5th in the league, an overachievement in most peoples views. Recently, Pardew has left his post for unknown reasons, and now, it seems Shearer wishes to redeem himself at the helm of the club he supports.

Shearer announced his departure from MotD along with his wishes to join the club to press several days after Pardew's announcement of departure:

"I am leaving Match of the Day as I feel I want to pursue more of a coaching career. I am actually interested in the Newcastle job. I know people think I was a poor coach there the first time round, but I was given a month to save the squad, I simply didn't have enough time. I'd really love to have a second go at it and take the club places, build on Pardew's achievements and become a regular European team."

Odd's are in Shearer's favor, but not because he is likely to get the job, only because there are few other obvious candidates at this time:
Alan Shearer 5/2
Peter Beardsley 5/1
René Girard 8/1
Laurent Blanc 11/1
Micky Quinn 12/1
Good luck Toon :) really enjoyed Newcastle when I played with them, hope you do too :)
Good luck with this. I would like to see René Girard managing Newcastle.
But the obvious choice will be Laurent as he just manage French National team he could still try to do a French starting 11.

Shearer Makes His Return

Ex-Player, Alan Shearer begins his second stint as manager of Newcastle today after his appointment was announced my Mike Ashley.

Alan Shearer has been named manager of Newcastle United by Mike Ashley. It is believed that they began contract discussions last night and mutually agreed on their plans. It was widely speculated that Shearer would take over after he blatantly announced his wishes to return to the club.

Ashley and Shearer were seen shaking hands, and looked like they were on good terms, despite the fact that Shearer had previously been sacked by the billionaire owner of the club. Ashley voiced his reasoning on his decision to appoint Shearer to press:

"I'm happy to welcome Alan back to the club. I think that people think he is a worse manager than he is, just because he was thrown in the deep end and people expected him to float right away. This is the right time to give him a shot at coaching, right before pre-season, where he can prepare everything and get a good feel for the job.

Shearer was beaming as he met press after the announcement, it was as if he had came back out of retirement as he entered the media room by St. James' Park.

"I am really looking forward to having a proper go at management. Last time, I was only really a caretaker manager, this time, it's different. We don't have a huge challenge to face, where, if we don't win every game it means we're out of the division. We can take it steadily, we can reclaim a European spot and we can begin our journey to being a bigger, better club."

Shearer departed the conference shortly after taking a few questions to make his way to Darsley Park, the training ground belonging to Newcastle. There, he is set to meet his squad for the first time and begin what is sure to be an exiting, yet daunting season.

Newcastle Transfer News

Several players have been placed on the transfer list by Alan Shearer and rumors brew on who they are making way for.

Newcastle United have placed the following players on the transfer list; Gabriel Obertan, who has interested Blackburn and ex-club, Lorient, James Perch, who is being closely watched by both West Brom and Stoke City, Danny Simpson, who has attracted interest from Celtic, Crystal Palace and Fulham and finally, Dan Gosling, who Brighton may be preparing an offer for. It is believed that Newcastle are trying to sell Nile Ranger, also, due to his rep-harming antics off the pitch,

Shearer gave some information on the players and why they were to depart, as well as that the club are looking to buy some new blood:

"I feel these players are not going to get the ammount of time on the pitch as they may expect, so it is only fair that I sell them now, before they get frustrated. With the money we get from then, we can build on the weak areas of the team. I think I'd like to pump some younger players in to the club to look towards the future."

The North-East club are believed to primarily searching for a target man. Claims originally suggested that they were going to buy Andy Carroll, but his loan to West Ham dispelled those rumors.

The most solid transfer rumor at the moment is of Brazilian youngster Mattheus, who is being looked at by some of the biggest clubs in the world, Newcastle throwing their hat in, crossing their fingers.
I love your update style m8! Keep it up :)

Shearer Snipes Mattheus

Newcastle has earned Brazilian youngster Mattheus' signature after interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Alan Shearer charmed Brazilian Mattheus in to joining Newcastle after the 18 year old announced his intentions to join the Spanish club, Atletico Madrid. It is believed that Shearer persuaded the youth to join after showing him his vision for the North-East club. The Newcastle man said this in attempt to swerve the Flamengo footballers favor his way:

"I think Mattheus is fantastic for his age and has the potential to be a seriously good player. I would be interested in him coming here to Newcastle, being a part of this new age. I'd love to be manager of the club that introduced him to the Premier league."

Mattheus was spotted in Newcastle yesterday, by then, the deal was all but confirmed. Along with a translator, Newcastle's one and only Brazilian player announced his excitement to a passing Journalist:

"The Premier League is the best league in the world and I can't wait to experience it for myself. I know Newcastle isn't a full-out continental team yet, but I am confident I can help them become one."

Mattheus has been given the number 14 shirt, which has just been left vacant by James Perch, who's departure to Stoke City has been completed. It is believed the transfer is worth over £4 million.
Great signing m8 :)
