Only a few months ago former Charlton player Chris Powell was being hailed as a managerial genious around the country after sensationally leading his club to Npower League 1 title. Powell's team were covered in glory as they reached the century mark, to lift the title in their bid to regain their place in the Barclays Premier League. The media was astonished by Chris Powells efforts and backed Charlton Athletic to replicate the form shown by both Norwich and Southampton in previous years to go straight through the Championship into the top flight of English Football. This news spread around the Charlton area and Kent where the majority of their fanbase is located, and this 'news' swiftly became the minimum expectation for many fans. This speculation is also reported to have effected the Charlton Board, as owner Michael Slater and his team offered Powell the minimum expectation of winning the play offs, or face the realisation of being sacked. Chris Powell a man widely respected in England for not only his duties as a manager but as a former player for various top flight clubs, chose to leave the club while his reputation was still in tacked. He is thouhght to have laughed off the expectations of the Charlton board, branding them ridiculous and unrealistic especially due to the little funds given to Powell, especially due to the financial benefits the title must have given them. Despite this falling out Powell has encouraged all parties to apply for the job claiming it was a dream for him during the 2 years he was there, and wishes the club the best going forward as they still fill up a big place in his heart. Speculation in the press suggests Richard Rufus could follow his former team mate Powell into management as he recently completed the final stage of his coaching badges and was indeed a charlton legend. He currently stands as the bookies favourite while outsider avid Charlton fan Jack Eastwood is rumoured with just a 66/1 chance of being appointed charlton manager.

If you're writing a story purely for "views" you're writing it for the wrong reasons in my eyes. Write it for your own enjoyment, if other people also enjoy it, that's a bonus!
