Forest Targeting Several Players
New Nottingham Forest manager, Andy Cole, has announced he is already in advanced talks with several players he is interested in.
Newly appointed Nottingham Forest manager, Andy Cole, has announced to public that he is already preparing deals for the summer transfer window, which will open in a matter of days. Cole has been busy preparing with the squad since he was named coach, and has so far had little time for press, this announcement his first as manager.
"We have been busy away scouting players and seeing if they are right for our set-up. I've selected four or five potential targets already, and we're in talks with all of them. I think one of them is almost defiantly in the bag, but, I don't want to announce anything until it's official."
At this time, it is unknown what positions Cole is looking to strengthen as his deals have been well covered up. It is commonly suggested, however, that Forest may need to buy a goalkeeper, as their number 1 shirt is vacant, the two senior keepers in the squad rated quite low.

Young Brazilian Joins Forest

18 year old Brazilian midfielder, Mattheus Oliveira (more commonly shortened to Mattheus), has successfully signed for Nottingham Forest only hours in to the transfer window's opening. Mattheus was likely affiliated with Forest shortly after Cole's appointment as manager, hence the fact the Reds' manager told press he was already in talks with players early on.
The deal has confirmed to be worth £925k, which is considered a low sum by many after seeing the prodigy play, though the reason Nottingham were able to poach him for so little money was that he had a release clause written in to his contract.
Andy Cole has confirmed that Mattheus will be registered in the Championship squad for the 2012/13 season and will not be a part of the reserve team. Cole assured fans that he was making "serious buys" that would "affect the first team."
Mattheus has been handed the number 16 shirt.

Three In Red On Loan
Nottingham Forest have recruited three new players on a one season loan; Juan Sánchez Miño, Vito Mannone and Shane Duffy.
Andy Cole has negotiated the loans of three players, who will all be present in Forest's assault on the Championship.
The first of the trio to join was Argentine defender, Juan Sánchez Miño, a Boca Juniors product who impressed Nottingham scouts enough to warrant an official offer. Sánchez Miño primarily operates as a full-back but has been known to play in the center of the pitch.
The second to be enlisted was Arsenal keeper, Vito Mannone. The 24 Italian was deemed as the third best keeper in the squad, and therefore surplus to requirements for this season, meaning that he could make his way in to the Nottingham squad happily.
The third and final signing was Shane Duffy, an Everton center-half of only 20 years. It seems that Everton saw his loan as a good opportunity to garner up experience. However, Duffy may not yet be good enough to play first team for Forest, meaning he may have just been a back-up in Cole's plans.
It does not seem Andy Cole is done with his deals yet, as the window is only a week old- well over a month to keep making deals. To add to that, it is believed that Forest have several million pounds to play with, having spent very little yet.
Great signings, 3 solid loans imo.

Two Reds Are Better Than One

Brendan Rodgers, manager of Liverpool FC, has announced a link between his club and Nottingham Forest. The two clubs, both affectionately known as 'reds' by their respective fans, have been joined following new Forest manager, Andy Cole, inquiring the club.
"I am happy to announce the link between Liverpool and Championship side, Nottingham Forest." Rodgers announced to press last night. "Hopefully it can be a long and strong partnership, where both clubs gain something."
It is believed that Liverpool will be paying Forest a fee of £113k annually, whilst also providing young players on loan and generally being a club on good terms.
