Signings forming a new era?
Today we will summarise all of Chelsea's delvings into the transfer market, just before their Community Shield Final against Manchester City.
Many of Chelsea's deals this transfer window have been looking to young, talented players. Six players were signed on compensation: Maximillian Meyer, a young attacking-midfielder formerly of Schalke, Gennaro Tutino, another attacking-midfielder, who joined from Napoli, Zakaria Bakkali, and speedy striker from PSV Eindhoven, Andrea Pinton, a virtually unknown center-back from Inter, Joel Valencia, joining Meyer and Tutino in attacking-midfield from Zaragoza and finally Raheem Henley, who joined from Championship side Blackburn and can play left-back or centre-mid.
Then the real transfers begun, with Chelsea making 4 more signing in the next 3 days. Matthias Ginter, a young German centre-back or defensive-midfielder, who has real quality in the air. He joined for a reported £14.75M from German Bundesliga side Freiburg. They then also struck a deal with Everton to sign England under-21 centre-midfielder Ross Barkley. He joined the Blues for around the £16.7M mark. Léonard Kweuke joined from Sparta Prague for £3.2M. The final deal for Chelsea so far was the signing of Max Clayton from Crewe Alexandra. The young striker joined the club for £4.2M.
