Barnsley today parted company with manager David Flitcroft after he had a bust up with players David Perkins and Stephen Foster. It is not yet known why a bust up flared up, but it is believed the board are keeping their cards close to their chest but will be looking to hire a new manager who can lead the club further up the Championship table and create stability at the club. Bookmakers Ladbrokes have recently released their list for the candidates: Nigel Adkins is the favourite at 6/1, Owen Coyle 10/1, Dave Jones 14/1 and James Heyhoe at 20/1. A decision on the new manager is expected to be announced in the next 72 hours.

Hate Barnsley with a passion, but should be interesting

Barnsley have today appointed James Heyhoe as their new manager. The rookie has signed a 1 year contract worth around £3,000 a week where he will be expected to play attacking football. Barnsley fans are angry that the board have appointed such an inexperienced manager but will be prepared to give him a chance to try and change the clubs fortunes. There is expected to be a number of changes as Heyhoe begins his era but we can now only wait and see as to Barnsley's fate this season.

Barnsley manager James Heyhoe today began re-building his squad by selling Stephen Dawson to Sheffield Wednesday and Bobby Hassell to Bournemouth. Heyhoe has also released summer signing Tom Kennedy as he sees no future for him st the club. It has now given Heyhoe the chance to free up some funds in the wage and transfer budget and allows him to focus on signing younger players.
