Queen's Park Football Club are an association football club based in Glasgow, Scotland. The club is currently the only amateur club in the Scottish League; their amateur status is reflected by their motto, "Ludere Causa Ludendi" – to play for the sake of playing.

Queen's Park are the oldest association football club in Scotland, having been founded in 1867, and are the oldest outside of England and Wales.[clarification needed][1] Queen's Park are also the only Scottish football club to have played in the FA Cup Final, achieving this feat in both 1884 and 1885.

The club's home is a UEFA Category four stadium; the all-seated Hampden Park in South East Glasgow, which is also the home of the Scottish national team. Queen's Park have won the Scottish Cup the third most times of any club, behind Rangers and Celtic, although the last time they won it was in 1893.

Meeting the players

I pulled up to Lesser Hampden training ground, as you would expect a lovely sunny day…just kidding, a wet and windy day in Glasgow. I parked my Vauxhall in the space reserved ‘Manager’ grabbing my briefcase instead of a chainsaw, ready for the days work! The training ground was adequate but in need of some refreshment.
I made my way through the double doors past reception and into my new office, this still wasn’t sinking in, I am a football manager!!

First job was to assess the wage and transfer budget, that took all of a minute…£0. Right loan players and youth it is then…I wasn’t one to stay behind a desk, id rather be out coaching and assessing players, I gave my assistant some leads and awaited a response from him later that week.

Lunch had come around quickly, and I made my way out to meet my players, well to watch them in their first training session as they knew me already. I couldn’t take training today so two of my coaches took the sessions for me while I was in the office sorting things for next season.

I said a quick hello and then made my way over to the youth team as I felt strongly that this was where success would come from for this club!!

Blair Spittal stood out as a quality player, only 16 he was very good on the ball and had good movement, he seemed on first glance to have all the characteristics of a much older player.
A few other players looked promising, but its so hard to tell at this age I said to myself….
Out drinking and female attention is hard to dismiss as a young lad when your meant to be following a healthy regime at a club…some things are just too hard to resist.
Maybe a few heads would roll from this youth set up!!

I went back into the office to think how we could get the advantage over everyone else to gain promotion,…. new formation, new way of playing maybe?

I am always looking for a way to get to the top of the pile, be the first to try new things!!
Nice start there mate very different and well written as well! Keep it up
Great start, quite the effort put in for a first story. Good luck for the rest of it.
