Welcome Alan

Thank you.

How do you feel, taking this Newcastle team all the way to the final?

Well, you’ve got to be stupid not to believe in your own team, and I think we can pull this upset off. We have great quality in this team in all positions. I think we can do this.

What is your opinion on your opposite number, Chelsea manager Marcelo Bielsa?

We haven’t really talked much, but he seems like a good lad, and he is a great manager, bringing Chelsea to the Final.

You managed to beat Leyton Orient, Huddersfield, Derby and Arsenal while Chelsea have beaten Portsmouth, QPR, Watford, Southampton and Manchester United to get this far. Who has an advantage over the other?

Well, we have had the easier route to the final, and as I said before, I think- no, I KNOW we can win this game.

Thank you for your time.

FA CUP FINAL

Andy Harper
Robbie Slater

Hello and welcome to Fox Sports Australia’s coverage of the 2014 FA Cup. My name is Andy Harper.

And my name is Robbie Slater.

Today’s FA Cup final features Alan Shearer’s Newcastle United and Marcelo Bielsa’s Chelsea. What do you think of today’s match, Robbie?

I think Chelsea is the strong favourites for this match, but Newcastle will be giving it their all, giving the fact that they won in their last encounter 3-2.

And here are the lineups

Newcastle: Tim Krul, Mathieu Debuchy, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Fabricio Coloccini, Davide Santon, Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko, Hatem Ben Arfa, Lewis Holtby, Jefferson Montero, Samuele Longo. Subs: Nathan Redmond, Alexandr Dragovic, Papiss Cisse, Dan Gosling, Massadio Haidara, Stephane Meite, Haris Vuckic.

Chelsea: Petr Cech, Martin Montoya, Gary Cahill, Kenneth Omeruo, Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, Cheick Tiote, Kevin Strootman, Jeremy Menez, Juan Mata, Kevin De Bruyne. Subs: David Ospina, Fernando Torres, Eden Hazard, Andreas Christensen, Adrian, Oscar, Wallace.

1’ We kick off here at the Wembley, London with Newcastle facing Chelsea in the FA Cup Final 2014 with Chelsea kicking off.

33’ Yanga-Mbiwa takes the free kick from inside his own half and gives it to Cabaye, who gives it to Debuchy and he gets robbed by Menez! He dribbles past Debuchy and he shoots from outside the box, but it goes well wide. The first noteable attack in a dull game so far, but we still have another hour to go!

36’ Mata crosses it into Menez, but it’s picked up by Krul. Krul plays it to Debuchy. Debuchy passes it to Ben Arfa who passes it to Cabaye, but it’s intercepted by Strootman. Cabaye tackles Strootman and wins the ball. Cabaye passes it off to Holtby and he puts through Longo. One on one with the keeper. Surely he can’t miss! And yet, he does. Skies it over the crossbar. He should have done much better with that chance.

45’ Half Time in the FA Cup Final 2014. A drab match so far, but things can only get better from here.

The second half starts as Torres replaces Menez and Hazard replaces Tiote at Half-time.

71’
Off: Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa
On: Dan Gosling and Nathan Redmond (Newcastle)

87’ Gary Cahill clears the ball, but it only reaches Sissoko, who heads it to Dan Gosling. Gosling passes it to Santo, who gives it to Sissoko. Sissoko knocks it back to Coloccini who passes it to Gosling. He looks to Debuchy on the right who gives it to Yanga-Mbiwa. He gives it back to Debuchy who finds Gosling. Gosling finds Redmond who runs down the line and gives it back to Gosling. Gosling with the chance to cross the ball in. He goes for the shot. GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Dan Gosling of all people gives Newcastle a very late goal, could that be the winner? So late in the game! You can see the enjoyment on his face has he rushes to his teammates to celebrate.

Off: Sissoko

On: Meite

88’ Chelsea kick off.

Chelsea push all player forward to try and get an equaliser. Torres’s pass to Montoya get intercepted by Meite who gives it to Montero. He plays it to Longo, who gives it to Debuchy. He plays a one-two with Gosling who gives it to Redmond down the wing. He crosses the ball into the box, but it is cleared to Meite, just inside the box. Meite has a shot! GOOOOAAAALLLLLL!!! THAT’S IT! NEWCASTLE HAVE SURELY DONE IT NOW. MEITE WITH HIS FIRST GOAL FOR THE CLUB, AND WHAT A VITAL GOAL!

This is now too easy for Newcastle, it’s like taking baby, from a candy.

You do realise what you said there, Andy, right?

No, what did I say?

You said “Like taking baby from a candy”

Oh god, that’ll be on YouTube...

90’ That’s it! Newcastle have won the FA Cup!!! That’s all from myself and Andy. Good night.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (Newcastle) 9.0
