Olympique de Marseille - Back To The Big Time!

Breaking news from France, as it is revealed Marseille manager Elie Baup has left the club just days into his role as the successor for Didier Deschamps. It is revealed he had a major bust up with the board over his transfer budget and the club will now be looking for a new manager after he was sacked last night. Baup had reportedly been infuriated over the fact the clubs board told him he had to sell before he could buy players, something he was not a fan of, and he demanded £10m to spend, which the board denied. The french side will be looking for a manager who has a high caliber reputation, but will be taking a week at most to find their new manager as they would like him in place for the clubs pre-season fixtures so the team can find some harmony.

A mystery car was today seen arriving at Marseille's training ground, leading to more speculation over their new manager. Before this car was seen arriving at the clubs training ground, it was believed the club were yet to identify any candidates for the job, but now it seems like they are really close to appointing a new manager. The fans are hoping that this manager is high profile and that he can lead the club to a Ligue 1 title in the next few seasons. An announcement on their new manager is expected to come in the next 3 days as the club aim to revamp their fortunes and turn back into the best team in the league.

French giants Olympique de Marseille have today appointed footballing legend Luis Figo as their new manager. The former Portugal international, who won 127 caps for his country scoring 32 goals, has been appointed on a 1 year deal at the Stade Veldodrome, worth around £10,000 per week and he has been told that he will be offered a longer deal at the end of the season if he impresses. The Marseille board have also said that they hope his high stature in football will be able to have a influence on the clubs senior squad and the younger players, also hoping it will motivate the players to spur on for a title push. The Portuguese's first season in charge will not be easy, as he has no managerial experience in his career, but will use his footballing knowledge to lead Marseille to glory. Figo's first game will be on the 11th of July in a friendly match against fellow french side Clermont Foot, and fans will be excited to see what tactics he will be using.
