FM 13 match speed is very slow! Computer 3D Graphics Capability - 5 Stars!

Okay, I've been playing FM since its 2007 version. I recently bought this one and tried playing it.

There are some issues i am facing such as the nearly invisible ball. I looked around for a solution and I think i might have found a solution. Another problem i am facing is the excruciatingly slow match speed. A normal match takes over 15 minutes to finish!

There are no problems with my PC specs as I get 5 stars on the 3D Graphics Capability chart. The menus and everything else just zip through. But it's when i play a match, the gameplay is just so slow. Mind you, the game doesn't lag or anything. It just goes 1 second a time. The problem is solved to an extent if i increase the match speed to full, but then i start having a headache.

Is there something else i could possibly tweak?

Do your system specs match or exceed those of the games requirements?

Make sure you aren't running other programs in the background while playing, sometimes i can have slower matches while doing various other things despite the multi-task nature of my mac.

Also, i've noticed that anything less than full speed for matches is watchable, at full it really is a recipe for motion sickness but just under it is fast but you have time to react when needed, try your sliders at the top end (although i'm sure you already have...)

Yes. Comfortably so. Like i've mentioned on the thread title, FM shows 5 stars on the Graphics Capability index.

I've made sure no programs run in the background. And, I have tried adjusting the sliders. I guess when i keep them at a level just below full, the match takes about 8-10 minutes to finish. I'll try playing with it again.

8-10 mins sounds about right for certain highlights sets (in a good match, i've had some with only 2 highlights to speak of!). What are yours set to, key highlights will be faster then comprehensive but again i'm suspecting you already knew that lol.

I think I've not made myself clear. I've turned Highlights to None! And I played the game with nearly full speed, and it took almost 15 minutes for the 1st half to end. I could not find a Slider for adjusting the match speed. All my game gives are the 2 sliders for adjusting Highlights in the Settings button which you get on the top right corner In-Game. I am at work now, I'll go home in the evening and take a screenshot and share if this is somewhat unclear.

What are your system spec's? We have no other information other than you saying

The game could say you have 10 stars, yet unless you have the CPU/RAM power behind it too, you are bound to suffer some loss at some point, whether that's game running speed or processing games.

You're asking for help on troubleshooting an issue, and we lack all the information. You might as well walk up to a mechanic, tell him your car won't start and not have your car with you. The full picture helps.

Okay so my specs are :

AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Quad Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-880-GM USB3 Motherboard
8 GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GTS 450 1GB GPU

Ok, so that definitely clears out the system specs as being an issue, which leads back to the graphics card and possibly drivers.

Given that your card is a GTS 450, that itself is only a 128bit graphics card, so even though the game is saying you have 5 star graphics, the card itself isn't all that powerful. You can no doubt run other top games, but you probably have those games running between mid-high graphics range at best because the card isn't able to process all the graphical data on its own, and as such will probably be chewing at some of the CPU power of your system as well as you memory.

I will make an assumption that your drivers are all fully up to date etc, and would recommend in this instance that you lower the graphic quality in FM13 to see if that improves the performance during matches. The likelihood is that you will see improvement.

I don't play a lot of games. The only games I have installed at the moment are FM & FIFA 13 which I play on high detail levels without any lags.

I even had Call of Duty MW2 installed a few months back when my cousin had come, he used to play it with the Graphics set at High without any lags as well.

Also, drivers are all up-to-date.

My goodness I'm an idiot! I had my Highlights set to 'Full Match' the whole time! No wonder the game took this long.

Had nothing to do with the GPU I'm afraid. This is a new feature in the game, and it took some serious Googling for me to figure it out.

The problem is solved! No more crying to sleep at night!

Seriously though, i'm pleased it is sorted and you can enjoy your addiction at a much greater pace than before
