Can I play FM13 online with the disc version?

I have just bought FM13 with the disc and can I play online with it or does it have to be the steam version to play online?

Well even with the disc version, you download FM through Steam so yes, you can play online.

The disc is really just a code for FM to be downloaded.

Yeah Justice is right there is basically no point in having a disc to my knowledge.
