Lineker quits match of the day!

"In a story that has gripped football fans across the country, Gary Lineker has quit BBC show, Match of the day. No one yet is quite sure why the former england star has quit the show, and no one is sure what he plans to do next.

Lineker, 52, started his career at Leicester City in 1978, going on to play there for 8 years, winning the second division in 1980. He then made the switch to Goodinson Park in 1985, having made nearly 200 appearances for the foxes scoring 94 goals. At Everton, he may not have had a trophy filled time, with Everton only winning the FA Charity Shield in 1985. He only enjoyed 30 goals in 41 games for Everton, as following being top scorer at the '86 world cup, he joined Barcelona for £2. 8 million, some £2 million more than the Toffee's ppaid for him in the first place. 3 years and just over 100 appearances later, Gary Lineker had returned to england to play another 100+ games, this time with tottenham hotspur in 1989. In 1992 he left to join Grampus Eight, before retiring in 1994.

Rumours are rifee about who will replace him at match of the day with Gabby Logan most likely to replace him. But, the big question is What is he going to do now?

Where ever he goes will he still be sponsored by Walkers ;)

Lineker enters management!

"Shocks keep on happening in the footballing world, as Gary Lineker at the age of 52 has entered management in football. At the age of 52, many consider Lineker to have been pushinng his luck at trying his luck, with others getting into management or coaching after they retire. But this hasn't stopped him. Lineker, who is currently the face of Walkers, has been offered a high profile job, for someone who hasn't managed a club before. This is all because of the shock news that Brendan Rodgers who resigned his post earlier this month at Swansea, turned down the job Lineker took. Liverpool Football Club. Before taking on this job, he asked many of his friends and up and coming danish manager Ryker Jensen (why hello there beany :) ) before chosing to take this role. Some of the fans of Everton are angry at him joining there rivals considering he played for them, and liverpool fans feel the same. But Lineker cut them down by saying:

"Look, I only played for Everton for one season, so there wasn't really enough time for me to be a cult hero. The Liverpool job provides a good pay and a high profile job. Turning this down now, would be a stupid idea and I would regret it for the rest of my life"
Good luck with this mate :) Liverpool should make an interesting choice, especially with the new squad changes, like Coutinho and Sturridge.

Carragher still to leave at the end of the season!

"Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has announced he is still leaving at the end of the season, despite new manager Gary Lineker trying to convince him ootherwise. The defender said "I sat down with Gary after our europa league win against Vitesse and said that it was my time to leave , he said that he accepted my decision and that he hoped we could give him the perfect season to send me off on.""

Good Luck with this Linekar! Not sure if Hansen or Lawrenson are on this but it would be quite funny to see a MOTD revolution at Liverpool. Will be tough though. Liverpool to me seem like them sides you just can't get right consistency with. Maybe you can change that ;)
Thank you to all that have commented for the kind and optimistic comments. also, everton fans not buying walkers? haha ziechal

Gary Lineker has been busy in the first few weeks already and has heralded some sort of results from it. The only sale that has been made is that of Stewart Downing for £8. 25 million to tottenham. But the signings so far have been awesome according to Lineker.

http://i3.chroniclelive.co.uk/incoming/article1754921.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Simon-Mignolet-1754921.jpg

The first signing was that of Sunderland's Simon Mingolet. The keeper makes the move for £10 million and has been used so far ahead of Pepe Reina.

http://images.football365.com/13/01/800x600/Ricky-van-Wolfswinkel_2890160.jpg

Following that is the £8. 5 million man Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, who red's fans are hoping will score the goals alongside Sturridge and Suarez.

At £7 million, Wales captain Ashley Williams was veiwed as paying a bit too much by Lineker's former match of the day colleagues. But, Williams proved them wrong with an impressive 3 goals in his first 6 games, forming a partnership at the back with Carragher.

http://i.smimg.net/12/35/300x225/WillHughes_20120808.jpg

Hughes was Derby's golden wonder, but Lineker paid £6 million for "someone who will eclipse the talents of Xavi and Iniesta". considering those are two of the best midfielders in the world, you can see the belief Lineker has for the youngster.

http://footballmanager.neoseeker.com/w/i/footballmanager/3/36/Olsson.jpg

At £18 million, Blackburn fans thought they where lucky to get that ammount. But liverpool fans disagree saying that they were paying a fee below his true value, showing a good business deal by Lineker.

Fans aren't particularly happy at having a former chelsea player, but at £110 k is the cheapest signing, and Lineker hopes the Portuguese international can lift his team.

The last signing is a loan. the PSG player Blaise Matuidi wanted to play games, and Liverpool provided it. If his man of the match debut against West Ham, where he scored the second goal, is signs to come, then it will be a good deal for the club.

Meanwhile the europa league groups have been drawn. lets take a peak:

http://s1275.photobucket.com/user/mewshiny99/media/groupj-l_zps39450b4f.jpg.html

My predictions for each group are:
Group A: Cska and Academica
Group B: Atletico and Lille
Group C: Tottenham and Dinamo Zagreb
Group D: Liverpool and Levante
Group E: Inter and Trabzonspor
Group F: OM and Fenerbache.
Group G: Atletico and Stuttgart
Group H: Lyon and Lazio
Group I: Levurkusen and AZ
Group J: Napoli and Twente
Group K: Rubin and Sporting
Group L: Dynamo Kiev and Feeyenoord

Also, Liverpool fan's have apologised to Gary Lineker after he has won all but one of his games in charge. He masterminded an 8-2 aggregate win over Vitesse and a 5-1 aggregate win over FC Admira, as well as league victories over Sunderland and West Ham, with their next fixture against Manchester United.

Liverpool currently stand 3rd on goal difference of Fulham and then second place Everton.

MVP: Ashley Williams- 6 Appearances 3 Goals 1 MOM. He has been a rock, with Agger injured and Skrtel...well I didn't want to play Skrtel, Williams and Carragher have been brilliant, and sure Suarez or Coutinho could of got this or even Shelvey, Williams prevents us conceding and thus wins the MVP this update.
Just nabbed 3rd in manager of the month award. Roberto Di Matteo was first (chelsea are fourth we are third?) and David Moyes was second (everton are actually second).

Good start to the season. Some brilliant signings... and Paulo Ferreira lol. Downing transfer was good for you

Gary Lineker has had to apoligise to millions of Liverpool fans stating "we as a team, have embarrassed and angered our fans" after his side lost 5-0 at Old trafford to Manchester United. Brazilian Sandro put United ahead in the 12th minute before Van Persie scored twice and Vidic put one in for 4-0 at half time. Vidic completed the rout with Lineker saying "this was one of the worst experiences of my career."
Ouch! After such a good set of results and then you get beaten by United! I hope you get revenge next time out.

After a first defeat of the season against United, a defeat against Arsenal was not the plan. But four games without conceding followed, with me myself giving Simon Mingolet the Player of the month because of that. We claimed a place against Cardiff in the capital one cup, and started our europa league campaign with a win over panithinikos.

We sit 7th currently and I want to break that top four soon. Liverpool need to get back into the champions league. Rafa Benitez started us dropping into europa league and king kenny failed to get us back there. Brendan hopefully will give us a shot in real life, while I, myself and Gary Lineker want to do it on FM2013.
