Education
One thing we refuse to take for granted at La Masia is education. Without good education you can't succeed in life. Now many people may think education hardly helps football, those people are very wrong.
As a footballer you make money, our U19's are being paid. They must learn how to invest their money while playing football and even after their careers. It will be a total disaster if players waste all their money before ending their careers and then they end up poor and hopeless. Everyday once a week for two hours the players at La Masia are required to go into the study room and study a subject/course of their choice. It can be economics, maths, English, Science anything. We advise them that they study something they're planning on doing in the future. Let's say a player wants to be an IT engineer. We advise them to read ICT so they gain a basic understanding of what exactly is required for the player to become not only an IT engineer but a successful IT engineer.
Its sad but true that not all the players will make it as professionals or not all will play for Barca. We do not want a case that a players feels like they've been dumped or betrayed. So even if a player is released he will still have something he can do with the basic knowledge he has acquired.
