Hello, I am new on the forums, well I have been on for two months just observing stories and seeing how others laid theirs out and so I will be attempting my first story.
I chose to do my story with Portuguese side C.D Nacional. I have never done a story on here before so it might take me a while to get used to all the features, codes, pics etc.

The main goal of my career at Nacional is to upset the top three teams and add a bit of competition into the league because the only teams now that are competing for the league are SL Benfica and FC Porto lately but also Sporting CP and SC Braga of late.

I really hope you enjoy it and as I said I am new so any tips or constructive criticism will help. Thanks and I will soon start off my story with Nacional da Madeira.

History

Nacional de Madeira is a Portuguese football club that plays in the top division of Portuguese football, the Liga ZON Sagres. They were founded in 1910 and they play games at the Estadio da Madeira, in Funchal on the island of Madeira. Their main rivals are Maritimo, who also come from the island of Madeira.
Nacional play in white kits with a black cross. Cristiano Ronaldo, Fabio Coentrão and Henrique Hilario are all famous products to come out of their youth system. The club has never been one of the best in Portugal and regularly finish in mid-table. They only reached the first division in the mid-90s and came back in 2002-03.

The next season was the club’s best ever. They just got past SC Braga to finish in fourth place, their best finish in the top division in their history. After that season, the three players that helped them reach fourth, Paulo Assunção and Adriano, left for FC Porto, and winger Miguelito was bought by SL Benfica.

Rivalry

Nacional’s main rivals are C.S Maritimo. They both come from the island of Madeira, and their rivalries are intense. Maritimo were known to be the winner of earlier meetings but Nacional have slowly become better. Last season, Maritimo finished 5th, meaning they had a Europa League spot.
Nacional represents a higher socio-economic status than Maritimo. Nacional and Maritimo derbies are associated with the fan’s ways of life and culture. Nacional support the commercial expansion of the island of Madeira whereas Maritimo fans are keen to preserve Madeira. Maritimo fans are known as working class.

The rivalry was heated up when Cristiano Ronaldo rejected Maritimo’s contract offer for Nacional’s. The regional governor of Madeira is a self confessed Maritimo fan.

Recent History

Nacional have been one of the top teams outside of the Three Big Teams, SL Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting CP. Nacional have finished fourth twice, their highest ever finish, and in the 2010-11 season finished 6th before dropping a place in the next season.

Their manager is Manuel Machado.

Machado Resigns As Nacional Manager

Today news came that Manuel Machado, manager C.D Nacional, has resigned after a feud with chairman Rui Alves. He said he could no longer work with such a relationship. “It became fractious, to the extent that we could no longer agree on anything,” Machado told A Bola.

Alves refused to comment to the press. Machado has been manager since 13 October 2012 after replacing Pedro Caixinha, who was dismissed. This is Machado’s third spell at the club but he told A Bola it would be his last under Rui Alves’ reign as chairman.

“Not under Alves, it is too hard. It is best if we part ways,” said Machado.

C.D Nacional and Machado have mutally agreed to part ways.

Favourite for the job is Manuel Cajuda, S.C Olhanense manager but others are suggesting that record appearance holder Bruno Patacas could well make the return to the Estadio da Madeira, and take the reins at the club he made 271 appearances for.
Hey man. Great start. It sounds like a very interesting idea for a story, as well as being set somewhere different to most of the stories. Will be following.

Good luck

Nacional Announce New Manager

A Bola can reveal that the new manager of Nacional da Madeira will be record appearance holder Bruno Patacas. Patacas spent nine years at the Estadio da Madeira and is relishing the chance to try his hand in management.
Patacas spent nine years of his career at Nacional da Madeira, making a record of 271 appearances for the club. After starting his career at Sporting CP he spent two seasons on loan at Lourinhanense and one season at Santa Clara.
After only making 7 apps for the senior side, Patacas was let go by Sporting and joined Campomaiorense and after spending two seasons there he joined Nacional. In 2011 at the age of 33 he announced retirement from football due to injuries.
He was hired as Director of Football but will now step down to actually manage the team. "I am delighted to be hired," said the passionate Patacas. "It really is a dream come true."

Patacas Announces First Signing

New Nacional manager Bruno Patacas announced his first signing of the day, when he captured 28 year-old Nigerian right back Chid Odiah, who was a free agent.

"I am glad to have signed him," said Patacas. "The negotiations took a while, but it's finally done," he told A Bola.

This is manager Patacas' first signing as manager of Nacional, and he hopes to conclude more. "Yes, I will continue to spend," he revealed.
