Spurs are being underrated
Football legend, Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken out about Tottenham Hotspur in an interview today. The Scotsman was asked about Spurs' sudden rise and renewed ambition and he stated how impressed he was with them and that they were being underrated by many. Tottenham fans would have been happy to watch or listen to the interview as a great legend such as Sir Alex was praising their club.
In the interview Ferguson said " They're a very good team that seem to get stronger year by year. Last year in my opinion they were robbed their champions league spot by Chelsea who were quite poor throughout the domestic season. This year everyone's talking about whether they will qualify for the champions league or not, or whether they will finish above Arsenal or not, to be honest I feel it should whether Spurs will win the league or not. They have some very good players and they have one incredible striker about to join them. They should be feared by many. I know Teddy, he's a good guy and Spurs are lucky to have him. If they can keep bringing in quality players and keep on getting three points they may be the champions of England."
As you can clearly see, Sir Alex is very aware of the threat Tottenham Hotspur possess currently and has sent a warning to other teams not to underestimate them. Spurs have started this season very well and are currently first in the table. They have brought in some decent players, however they have let go of a few decent players too. With Edinson Cavani set to join Tottenham, they seem like an unstoppable force. Gareth Bale has been playing very well and has talked about playing with Cavani in the future, "I watch Italian football sometimes, Napoli are a very good team and will miss Cavani, he's very strong and is a good finisher, I can't wait to link up with him".
Are Spurs really a contender for the English premier league? The answer is most likely closer to yes than no. Spurs have a very good chance of winning the FA cup or Capital one cup, alongside with the Europa League, but if they were to win the premier league, that would be absolutely huge.
