Spurs are being underrated

Football legend, Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken out about Tottenham Hotspur in an interview today. The Scotsman was asked about Spurs' sudden rise and renewed ambition and he stated how impressed he was with them and that they were being underrated by many. Tottenham fans would have been happy to watch or listen to the interview as a great legend such as Sir Alex was praising their club.

In the interview Ferguson said " They're a very good team that seem to get stronger year by year. Last year in my opinion they were robbed their champions league spot by Chelsea who were quite poor throughout the domestic season. This year everyone's talking about whether they will qualify for the champions league or not, or whether they will finish above Arsenal or not, to be honest I feel it should whether Spurs will win the league or not. They have some very good players and they have one incredible striker about to join them. They should be feared by many. I know Teddy, he's a good guy and Spurs are lucky to have him. If they can keep bringing in quality players and keep on getting three points they may be the champions of England."

As you can clearly see, Sir Alex is very aware of the threat Tottenham Hotspur possess currently and has sent a warning to other teams not to underestimate them. Spurs have started this season very well and are currently first in the table. They have brought in some decent players, however they have let go of a few decent players too. With Edinson Cavani set to join Tottenham, they seem like an unstoppable force. Gareth Bale has been playing very well and has talked about playing with Cavani in the future, "I watch Italian football sometimes, Napoli are a very good team and will miss Cavani, he's very strong and is a good finisher, I can't wait to link up with him".

Are Spurs really a contender for the English premier league? The answer is most likely closer to yes than no. Spurs have a very good chance of winning the FA cup or Capital one cup, alongside with the Europa League, but if they were to win the premier league, that would be absolutely huge.

October fixtures & results

Stadion Pilkarski

0-0

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Fellaini, Bender, Dempsey,Dembele, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : None

MOTM : Kaboul

A bore draw. Both sides had chances to win the game but failed to convert. I was pleased with our defensive performance today as we managed to keep a clean sheet.

White Hart Lane

4-0

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Baines, Parker, Fellaini, Sigurosson, Holtby, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : Bale (37,57), Boruc own goal (45), Holtby (56)

MOTM : Bale

A great team performance, and a wonderful individual performance from Gareth Bale. Southampton did play some nice football but we still outplayed them. Yet another clean sheet as well.

White Hart Lane

3-1

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Nughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Baines, Parker, Fellaini, Sigurosson, Holtby, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : Hernandez(52,65), Bale (89), Le Fondre (79)

MOTM : Sigurosson

Another three points in the bag. This was a rather comical game as Reading were down to 9 men by the time the final whistle was blown. Bale seems to have a habit of scoring goals late and when we want to put a game to bed.

Olimpico

2-2

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Baines, Bender, Fellaini, Lennon, Holtby, Bale, Hernadnez

GOALS : Hernandez (30, pen 82), Candreva (64,68)

MOTM : Candreva

Hernandez saved us in this game as we were on the verge of our first defeat. Candreva was brilliant for them and truly deserved his man of the match award.

Carrow Road

1-1

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Lennon, Fellaini, Bender, Bale, Dempsey, Hernandez

GOALS : Hernandez (88), Bennett(5)

MOTM : Fellaini

In this game I could tell some of the players were tired from the previous game against Lazio. We still had to put in a decent performance and once again Hernandez saved us from defeat.

The Liberty Stadium

0-2

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Bender, Demebele, Holtby, Sigurosson, Dempsey, Adebayor

GOALS : Baines (34), Adebayor (62)

MOTM : Vertonghen

A good victory away from home. Hernandez was rested and Adebayor was given a chance, which he used to prove a point by getting on the score sheet. Lewis Holtby picked up an injury, we hope its not too serious.

In the league we are first place with 23 points. Second place is Man City with 20 points and third place is Liverpool with 20 points. We drew quite a few times this month and that has prevented us from extending our lead at the top.

Player of the Month

The Spurs player of the month is..... JAN VERTONGHEN! The Belgium defender has been a rock as the back and has made his fair contributions when attacking. He has really settled in at the club and I hope he can keep up the good work.

SUPER, SUPER JAN, SUPER, SUPER JAN, SUPER, SUPER JAN, SUPER JAN VERTONGHEN~~~~~~~~
You should play Siggy more, in my Spurs save (before it crashed on me) he was the top scorer, bagging 24 goals in the league and i think around 28 in all competitions. Good results too, especially against Swansea, they're always hard to play away from home
Woo! Top of the league! Once you can iron out these away difficulties success will be just around the corner :D

Looking good at 1st. Shame you drew a few games especially in Europa League
Nick: You must be a spurs fan ;) He's been playing quite well recently and so he may get more playing time.

Rablador: I agree, we struggle away from home sometimes.

Padster: Hopefully next month there will be less draws.

North London Derby

The north London derby, one of the most fierce rivalries in the world of football. For many years Arsenal and Tottenham have fought for the dominance of North London. The two teams hate each other, the two sets of fans hate each other. There is no such thing as a "boring" north London derby, each game contains a large amount of Drama.

Last year Tottenham defeated Arsenal 2-1 at White Hart Lane in a very controversial match, Arsenal got more than revenge as they thrashed Tottenham 5-2 at the emirates. Tottenham were looking to do defeat their fierce rivals at the Emirates stadium earlier on today, Steve Wilson was at the Emirates earlier on.

Hello and welcome to today's coverage of the north London derby taking place at the Emirates stadium, and now the lineups for today....

1: The ref for today's match is Lee Mason.....and Arsenal have kicked off!

13: A careless tackle from Jack Wilshere and Fellaini doesn't seem to happy about it....the players get into a shoving match but are quickly separated. Wilshere receives a yellow card for the tackle.

15: Lloris is with the ball, he passes it to Vertonghen who has spotted the run of Adebayor but the ball is slightly over hit, Szczęsny should gather this easily.....ohhh he's dropped it open goal for Adebayor! GOAL! Tottenham have scored thanks to former Arsenal man Emmanuel Adebayor. Poor keeping from the Arsenal goalie.

17: The ball has been hoofed up the field by Lloris, Adebayor..Sigurosson, to Lennon who cuts past Monreal and seems to be going to the byline, wait he's cut back in again, LENNON! What a finish! Lennon has put Spurs 2-0 up here at the Emirates stadium. Sigurosson was the mastermind behind the goal. Two goals in two minues!

20: Monreal is with the ball now, he crosses it in, the ball goes over Kaboul's head and there's Giroud. GIROUD! Oh he's missed it, the Frenchman really should have buried that chance.

31: Bale, he flicks the ball to Fellaini, who has found Adebayor, he's one on one with the goalie, ADEBAYOOOORRR 3-0 TO SPURS NOW! ADEBAYOR CELEBRATES IN FRONT OF THE ARSENAL FANS, SPURS ARE THRASHING ARSENAL AT THE EMIRATES.

34: Arsenal corner now, Arshavin to take...its an in-swinger...GIROUUUD, he has put the ball in the back of the net this time, great header 3-1, can Arsenal come back?

45: It's half time here at the Emirates, Spurs have been superb, Arsenal not so great.

66: Monreal has been lively throughout this match, here he is with the ball now...he crosses it in, GIROUUD oh dear, he should have scored again, it really should be 3-2 but the score remains 3-1.

90: The final whistle has been blown! Spurs have done it, they have beaten Arsenal at the Emirates to extend their lead at the top to 5 points!

Lineker: What a game that was, Spurs really did perform today didn't they?

Hansen: They certainly did Gary, to be honest with you I expected Arsenal to defeat Tottenham but I was wrong, they were completely outplayed by Spurs.

Shearer: I agree with Alan, Arsenal didn't really show up today, Tottenham deserve all the credit and boy was Adebayor on form today!

Lineker : Do you think Adebayor was trying to prove a point today, with Hernandez taking his place in the team and Cavani coming into the squad, was he trying to say "I'm still the right man".

Shearer: Well I think he has no choice but to do that. If he doesn't fight for his place in the team he'll end up in the reserves team. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Cavani joins. Obviously I expect him to be the main striker but who will be the second striker, Hernandez or Adebayor...

Linker: Well that's all for today, Tottenham have defeated Arsenal 3-1 and have proved a huge point to millions, for now goodbye!
