Europa League

Tottenham will be hoping this is the last time they have to play in the Europa League for a long while as they aim to qualify for the champions league this year. For many years Arsenal have kept Spurs out of Europe and last year, when they finally finished inside the top 4, Chelsea won the champions league taking Tottenham's place in the prestigious tournament. Tottenham have played in the champions league before but failed to really go far.

The Europa league plays second fiddle to the champions league. For so many clubs, such as Tottenham, they aspire so greatly to qualify for the champions league but they fall just short and have to make do with the Europa league. Then there are some teams that for their stature, Europa league is a huge achievement. If Tottenham can do well or even go on to win the Europa league it would send a huge message to all other clubs that they're ready for champions league football, including themselves.

Just like the champions league, you have group stages, then the round of 16, then the quarter final, where 8 teams battle it out to go just one step closer to the trophy. Next is the semi-final. Once you reach here you know you have a very good chance of winning the final. Sometimes Semi-finals can be more heart-braking than finals themselves. Then is the final. Two teams, 22 men, one ball. Everyone wants one thing, and that's to win. In a final there is always blood, sweat and tears, but at the end only one winner will emerge, will it be Tottenham this year, possibly but first they must overcome the group stages.

Tottenham were drawn in group B in this year's Europa league, alongside Lazio, Metalist and Slask. A fairly easy group for Tottenham on paper, but these days anything can happen. The group of "death" in this years Europa league is group G. Liverpool, Malaga, Napoli and Zeljeznicar were all drawn in this group. The team to watch out is Slask, an upcoming club from Poland developing at a very fast rate.
Europa League champions is still a very impressive achievement. Bring it home Seni!

For the Posh it is haha. With Seni at the helm it almost becomes a minimal expectation
Matt: I hope to do so :P

Padster: Haha :)
Some weird moves in the transfer window, but it seems that it has worked. You will certainly finish in the top 3!
I hope you can win the Europa League this season, that means getting to play in a Super Cup match aswell as a coveted piece of silverware to bring home :P
I'm sure you'll win it. Too bad for Spurs that they just decided to make the Champions League winner qualify for the it next year right when Spurs finally qualify. That was one of the best thing about winning the Champions League.

August and September results part 2

White Hart Lane

3-1

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Fellaini, Bender, Lennon, Holtby, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : Lennon (3,9), Holtby (45+1), Cristaldo (58)

MOTM : Lennon

This was our first game in the Europa league for the season and so I was really pleased with the victory. Aaron Lennon seems to have reacted to Glenn Hoddle's words, I'm just glad its a positive reaction. I feel this is a tournament we can win.

White Hart Lane

1-1

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Fellaini, Bender, Lennon, Demebele, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : Adebayor (89), Suarez (17)

MOTM : Skrtel

What a cracking match this was. Adebayor came off the bench to prove he may still have a future at this club. Liverpool started off very well and caught us by surprise but we kept pressing till we finally scored.

White Hart Lane

2-0

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Caulker, Vertonghen, Baines, Fellaini, Bender, Lennon, Holtby, Bale, Hernandez

GOALS : Foster own goal (41), Bale (89)

MOTM : Bale

Bale was superb today, he used his dribbling skills and pace to destroy West Brom's defense. The team were a little tired but I'm not too concerned about that.

The Hawthorns

1-2

Spurs Starting Lineup: Lloris, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines, Demebele, Parker, Lennon, Holtby, Dempsey, Hernandez

GOALS : Dempsey (68), Bale (89), Lukaku (5)

MOTM : Morrison

The back to back fixture against West Brom, this time it was an away match. We started off very slowly and that allowed them to take the lead. Dempsey managed to equalize and Bale came off the bench to win the game. He has been playing very well recently.

All in all, it was a very good month for the club, and myself as I won the manager of the month award. We are currently first in the league!

Player of the month

The Spurs player of the month is.....GARETH BALE! The Welshman has been in good form assisting and scoring goals. Also he has been putting in some very good performances and I hope he can keep it up.

Pauker: lool, I think I will finish in the top 3 as well

Justice: I'm really confident about winning the Europa League!

TSO: Yeah even though I'm an Arsenal fan, I felt bad for them!

another decent set of results, well done really enjoying this

Cavani to join Spurs

Edinson Cavani of Napoli will be a Tottenham player come 1st of January 2013, when the transfer window opens. Tottenham and Napoli negotiated a deal for the player which sees Spurs paying 1.5 million every month to the Italian club for 48 months. Currently Spurs do not have the finances to pay all the money at once so they have will be using monthly installments. It seems that Spurs want even more firepower after they bought Hernandez in the summer transfer window.

Teddy Sheringham had sent scouts out for a few weeks to go and watch the striker, and there reports were very positive. The striker has been in good form since the start of the season scoring 8 goals in 13 games. Right now Cavani feels a move to England will suit him perfectly. The striker reportedly told close ones, he loves Spurs renewed ambition and wants to be part of the team as they aim to win the Europa league and qualify for the champions league. Cavani and Spurs negotiated a deal seeing Cavani earn 135,000 a week. The striker wanted around 160,000 but Spurs managed to convince him to accept a lower wage.

Tottenham did buy Javier Hernandez from Manchester United but they still feel they need another striker as they look to offload Emmanuel Adebayor. Chicharito has not been in the best of form recently and seems to be struggling a bit at Tottenham, although he still needs a bit of time to settle down. Most likely once Cavani comes Hernandez will act as a back up, or possibly a 4-4-2 may be introduced as it is already Spurs' back up tactic.

Reports say Moussa Demebele has told manager Teddy Sheringham he wants to leave the club. He is unhappy about the amount of competition and feels he deserves better than Tottenham. Whether Sheringham will allow him to leave or not is a different case completely. Demebele seems to be a key part of the team but now he wants to leave, Tottenham have to make a decision on whether to allow him leave, or persuade him to stay.
