The team had been flying up until this point with only 4 losses & 5 draws
leaving us in a great 4th place,
a result our dominant style of football making it hard to get the ball from
us and defeat us.
Aswell as winning our Europa League group ahead of Bilbao, Basel & Traz
New Goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev had been impressive although not
as many clean sheets as last year the team were scoring more goals.
Toby Alderweild had played every league game so far and was solid with an AVR of 7.54

Tommie Hoban had palying in 14 games and was impressive 7.34 but

RIO Ferdinand had started 16 games and was still so conssitent he couldn't be dropped AVR 7.54 in 16 starts is pretty decent for a 36 year old.

CRISETIG had been dominant in midifeld with his classy Italian ways AVR of 7.62 from 15 starts.

Denys Garmash had been grabbed 6 goals form midifeld although still unsure of his best role, he has had a great AVR of 7.62 so far.

Lewandowski had scored 13 league goals even after being on a mini drought

Tom Ince had been the key man though with 9 goals and 6 assists in the league playing form both sides his AVR so far was 7.64

Watford have been quiet in the January transfer window but have today announced
the much rumoured transfer for former Spurs man Luka Modric for 14.5m after
playing only 1 game for Real Madrid this season he asked for a move away
and Gianfranco Zola was quick to splash the cash on the 29 year old playmaker.

Alen Halilovic a young almost clone of modric in style of play, he has joined
for 3.7m but has gone on loan to Levante in La Liga for first team football.

Zola was presented with Modric today he said ' We all know Luka's qualities from
his time at Spurs, He has no doubt learned more from playing for such a prestigious
club like Real Madrid and his experience and clas will add a lot to our squad,
He hzd obviously fallen out of favour this year at Real which was strange to me,
only playing 1 game all season. But I cannot argue I have got a world class midfielder
for a very good price, Luka actuially recomended me young Halilovic and
when watching him at first it was like watching a young Modric, the
first team experiences he will gain in Spain will help shape his development.
We Know Luka now has to get some games uner his belt and look forward to seeing
his best, although I urge the fans to be patient.'

Zola also announced that young striker Ilshak Belfodil has gone on loan to Rennes in France until june.
AS WELL AS Argentian LB Juan Sanchez Mino who has joined Valencia on loan a man who hasn't played in the league this seaosn due to Indi & Davies keeping him out.
Brazilian Raf Toloi after no football in 18 months after 42 gmaes in the championhip has gone back to Brazil on loan joining Flamengo.
