September Update

A very average month for the club, we started fantastically full of confidence from the Barcelona game with 2 good victories against Mallorca and Zaragoza, however we suffered our first loss of the season to Levante, followed up by a 4-2 defeat to Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao which was disappointing, but they are a very strong side at the top of the league.

Mallorca 1-2 Real Sociedad

Sociedad Starting XI - Bravo, Martinez, De la Bella, Gonzalez, I Martinez, Zurutuza, Griezmann, Illarramendi, Vela, Prieto, Castro

Goals- I Martinez (20), Agirretxe (90+2)

MOTM- I Martinez

Another good solid performance, the scoreline doesn't reflect how the game was, we absolutely battered them all game having about 20 shots to their 3, Agirretxe ended up getting the all important goal from the bench and I Martinez had a solid game

Real Sociedad 1-0 Zaragoza

Sociedad Starting XI - Bravo, Martinez, De la Bella, Gonzalez, Martinez, Zurutuza, Coquelin, Illarramendi, Vela, Prieto, Castro

Goals- I Martinez (17)

MOTM- I Martinez

Another win, however this performance was very average, we allowed Zaragoza into the game which I aimed not to allow to happen and they had a few chances, the solid defensive performance was vital in securing the 4th consecutive win, I Martinez got himself another goal though, and put in a very good solid performance.

Levante 2-0 Real Sociedad

Sociedad Starting XI - Bravo, Martinez, De la Bella, Gonzalez, Martinez, Griezmann, Coquelin, Illarramendi, Vela, Prieto, Castro

MOTM- Gonzalez

Our first loss of the season and a disappointing one, Levante really aren't a great side however we just didn't turn up and perform to our capabilities

Athletic Bilbao 4-2 Real Sociedad

Sociedad Starting XI - Bravo, Martinez, De la Bella, Gonzalez, Martinez, Griezmann, Coquelin, Illarramendi, Vela, Prieto, Castro

Goals- Vela (53), Agirretxe (83)

MOTM- Vela

Not the best way to end the month at all, a loss to our rivals which the fans were very upset by, I didn't fault the players too much as I felt they put in quite a good performance against what is a very strong Bilbao side, we will be moving on from this into next months games.

Mallorca isn't particularly easy away from home and you got the win. Levante is tough too as is Bilbao so not a bad month

Yeah it hasn't been a bad month, keen to improve in October though ;)
Bit of a mixed month which at least started well. I am sure things will get better!
A stunning start with the victory in Camp Nou! Then the things go on not so bad... Kepp it up and you can do great things! ;)

Iñigo Martínez called up to Spain squad

http://i41.tinypic.com/2yx5fms.jpg

Spanish International manager Vicente Del Bosque has today announced his squad for the upcoming friendly matches and World cup qualifying games, joining up with the squad this time will be Real Sociedad superstar Iñigo Martínez, at the young age of 22 he has been very impressive at the heart of the defense in the opening games of Sociedad' season, and many pundits on Spanish national television have backed Del Bosque' call up.

Del Bosque only had words of praise for the young centre back in a press conference approaching the games saying 'Iñigo is a fantastic young player, Sociedad really have a future superstar in his hands, I have been monitoring his progress over the start of the season and the performances he put in against Barcelona, Mallorca and Zaragoza were first class, he's a hard working boy who always put 100% in for the side, he has a very bright future ahead of him'.

Martínez will be joining up with the Spanish national side to face Iran and Georgia in mid October, although he is unlikely to feature it is a great accolade for the young defender.
