Burnley F.C. Background and Announcement of a new Manager

Burnley Football Club are a professional Football League club based in Burnley, Lancashire. Nicknamed the Clarets, due to the dominant colour of their home shirts, they were founder members of the Football League in 1888.

The colours claret and blue were adopted in 1910 as a tribute to Aston Villa (not West Ham sadly), and these colours hope to represent success as in Aston Villa's success. They've won the FA Cup once in 1914, but since the 2000s have been lingering around in the Championship, unable to truly find a place at the Premier Leagues. They once were promoted in 2009, but were instantly relegated at their 1st season back to the Premier.

Now the Frenchman Laurent Blanc(shown below) has been apppointed as the new manager of Burnley, having previously managed at Bordeaux and the French National Team. Will the 'Le Président' be able to guide Burnley to a successful season, or will Burnley continue to stay in the Championship, only wishing that they can play against the top teams in England?

2 in, no outs at Burnley

New Burnley manager Laurent Blanc wasted no time in his new club as he has made 2 new signings, both still youngsters and prospects for the future.

First is Tom Eastman from Colchester at the fee of £140K. Tom is a central defender with good tackling and heading abilities, also boasting a considerate amount of strength. He started at local club Weeley in Essex until the age of 9, where Roy Keane, the manager of Ipswich at the time, signed him to a youth contract, and after a few years at the club, he joined League One club Colchester in 2010. Now he is a Burnley player and will be looking to impress for the future.

Second is Joss Labadie, signed from Notts Co for a fee of £210K. He started playing at West Brom, starting off as a youth and was handed a contract at 2008. After loans at 3 different clubs in England, he signed for League One club Tranmere Rovers, and at 2012 released by them after 61 apps and 7 goals, signing for Notts Co. Now a Burnley player, the good all-round central midfielder will hope to finally settle in with his new club and be a force to be reckoned with for the Clarets in the future.

Although manager Laurent Blanc is not very open to the press about his transfers, his current activity signals that he looks to make Burnley a world-class team in the future, and hopefully, for the time being, a team that can succeed on gaining promotion to the Premier Leagues.

Claret of the Month

Charlie Austin has been on fire, scoring 4 goals in 5 appearances, and also assisting once. Also with two man of the match awards, he is already proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
Like the Claret and Blue titles.
September Results

We're doing pretty good! The team is performing well so far and we find ourselves 6th on the table this month! Also knocking off Bolton away from the COC is an impressive feat in my opinion.

Claret of the Month

http://greenscene.me/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/keithtreacyburnley.png
One of the most creative players on our team, scoring one goal in 6 appearances and also helping out with 4 assists and constantly performing at a high level, Keith Treacy scoops this month's claret of the month.
McCann headed for exit?

The media has reported that Chris McCann, the 25 year old midfielder at Burnley, has been widely expected to leave the club soon.

Reports say that his contract is due to expire this season and his excessive signing fee is not going to help the Clarets finances.

It is also reported that he has rejected a contract offer from Burnley

Chris was brought over from the Irish club Home Farm and rising up the ranks of Burnley F.C.'s youth system. He made his senior debut in the 2005-2006 season, coming on as an early substitute in the 4-0 win against Coventry City.

He has also played for the Ireland U19s, but was not recalled due to a certain incident with the manager of the Ireland U19s at the time, Don Givens.

Laurent Blanc states that, "His signing fee is too high for us.

"He has requested a wage over our wage budget and a signing fee that is also out of my budget. Although i disagree with his demands, i value him as a very quality player and one of the best in the club.

"We will sort things out at the end of the season and hopefully, he will understand and sign the contract here at the Clarets."

Claret of the Month
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01594/burnley_1594954a.jpg
Charlie Austin keeps on impressing, with 10 goals and 3 assists in 13 appearances, also being the hero at the Newcastle game, scoring both goals in the time frame of 2 minutes, he is a player worthy being handed his 2nd Claret of the Month.

*Major shoutout to Kane for the sweet banner!*
