Help me. Assistant Manager Issues

Ok, someone please tell me how to sort this. I am Cambridge, I have been lumped with Paul Carden as Assistant Manager, with Man Management Skills of 1. However he is also a fairly useful Midfielder, so I want to keep him as a player, but ditch him as my assistant. I tried offering him a new contract just as a player but he won't accept anything I throw at him. In desperation I tried to offer him mutual termination, he declined. I've tried selling him (i'd rather keep him). No one will sign him. If I release him on a free it will cost me £45 which is 3 times my weekly wage budget.

Basically I'm stuck, ideally I want to keep him as a player, and I have several decent assistants lined up for his job. But I can't for the life of me work out what to do. Someone please help!

Can you offer one of the other assistants the job whilst he is still contracted?
Another thing you could do is make another user in the league above you and buy him out of your team.

yeh that is a bit weird to be honest.

In such situations i would use the editor and make his contract to player only if that would be possible.

Or i would have made that his contract runs out in 1-2 days so i can offer him a new contract as only a player or something like that.
