February: Triumph

In a rather quiet month for the rest of the country, Newcastle were making all the noise. Gary Lineker's men needed momentum to take into their Capital One Cup Final, and that is exactly what they got when a youthful second-string team beat a strong Manchester City team 3-0. Next up was the big one, a trip to Wembley to face the team that they had lost 2-0 to in the league, Swansea.
Swansea are a team to be admired, with their free-flowing blend doing the business as they found themselves in their second consecutive Capital One Cup Final. Against Newcastle, however, they were no match - and Newcastle took home the trophy with a demanding 3-1 win, which marked Gary Lineker's first trophy in management.
In other news, David Platt has left Newcastle as coach to become the new manager of Burnley - a move Lineker hasn't taken too kindly to, as he privately begged him to stay with the now Europa League team.

March/April: The Hunt

Fixture congestion, which was Newcastle's biggest downfall at a time when they had many of their team away at the African Cup Of Nations, is thinning and results are picking up. Although they lost 2-1 away at Arsenal, they went on too pick up a full six points in two games against strugging Norwich and Cardiff and keep up the hunt of fourth spot. With Europa League qualification now assured, Newcastle will be hunting for Champions League this season in order to not let the squad get complacent.

Newcastle were unbeaten through April as they took ten points off a
possible twelve as they beat Hull, Everton and Fulham to stake claim on their fifth spot and reign pressure on Manchester United, who lie only three points ahead, but with a superior goal difference. Next month lies a match against Manchester United, but with a tough game against second place Tottenham on the last day means that qualification for the elite European competition is far from a reality.

May: Disappointment

Newcastle ended their 2012/2013 campaign with a poor set of results but can take a lot of positives from Gary Lineker's first season in charge. Lineker started his career under some strong pressure from Director of Football Joe Kinnear but, by January, had chairman Mike Ashley on his side and was able to ship of two 'flop' signings in Remy and Ecuele - both to Montpellier.
With European qualification secured, Lineker can expect a large transfer budget, and has already pointed out 22-year-old Christian Benteke as his main summer target. "I want to sign Benteke, and maybe a couple of young guys - just to sure up our future". Want-away Benteke has asked to leave now Championship side Villa as he wants to be back in the top division.

Sadly, My Football Manager seems to hate me at the moment and has corrupted both my save and my backup save as they were saving. This means I cannot get into my Newcastle save to continue my story, and therefore it must end. It is a real shame as I was really enjoying my save and had just signed the likes of Benteke and Robinho to try and challenge for a top four spot... but maybe this is a sign - maybe this was a bad idea.
I have lost motivation with the game after what it has done to me (well...you know what I mean) so I am going to take a break from it for a couple of days. Hopefully after that I will have a great idea for a story that I can use and stick with for a while. Any suggestions are welcome below.
Thanks to all who commented,

Quipton :)
Shame, because I was enjoying this. Maybe in a few days or so you can start another one, depending on how you feel about the game.
This was a good story, shame to see it end. Good luck with your next story, if you do decide to start another.
