Dynamo Kiev appoint Mair as new manager

The news that has just broke out of Ukraine is that Dynamo Kiev have appointed Nathaniel Mair as there new manager.

Mair, 25, was previously a Manchester United first teamer and Scotland international until an injury that kept occurring put paid to his footballing career. Other clubs he has played for include Aberdeen, Inverness CT, Fulham and Napoli. Mair was unavailable for a press conference but is alleged to have said the following about his appointment:

"I'm not going to say any of the old crap like "Its a dream come true to manage Kiev", what I am going to say is I'm pleased to have been appointed and I will bring this club glory. I will win the league in season 1, that is for certain. If I don't, the board can fire me right then. But that isn't going to happen because I will win the league and by a distance" he said, before adding "however the squad registration rules here are completely pathetic and I hope to see them changed in the not to distant future. I mean how am I supposed to only play 7 foreigners in my starting 11 when, bar Garmash all the Ukrainians are crap."

Friendlies Overview

I was in my office admiring the beautiful view of the Ukranian mountains. Pre-season was rapidly approaching and I had decided to take drastic action regarding it. A knock at the door signalled that my visitor was here.
Me - "Come in Olexiy".
The door opened and in came my small wiry assistant manager.
Olexiy - "You wanted to see me Nat?" he asked cautiously.
Me - "Yes" I replied, "I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks and I want you to take control of the friendlies. You have no say in the matter, I just thought I would tell you in advance anyway."
Olexiy - "Yes Nat, sure thing, any tactics you would like me to use?"
Me - "Nope not really, just make sure you do well, this is your trial, I will assess your performance when I get back and judge whether you are an acceptable assistant then."
Olexiy - "Okay Nat, enjoy your holidays!"

2 Weeks Later

I landed at the Kyiv National Airport. I had made sure not to check any of the Ukraine scores whilst on my holiday in Spain. I got off the plane and saw Olexiy waiting for me, he looked tentative.
"I trust you had a good flight Sir" he said.
Gone was the Nat he had called me by last time and I feared the worst for the results in our pre-season, but not even I could've expected what was to come.
"How did it go?" I growled, not caring for small talk.
"Well....."



"8-1" I exploded, "How did you manage to lose 8-1 to a team I have never even heard of!?"
"Well if you take a look at the match review, it was a much closer game than the score suggests" he said



"I couldn't care less. I gave you one job, one job to beat 4 relatively crap teams and you've scraped past 3 and been hammered by the other, this is unacceptable. You Olexiy are fired effective immediately. Get your stuff and never enter my line of vision again."
"Please, boss, cant I get one more chance to prove myself?"
"Olexiy, I gave you your chance and you failed epicly, now get your stuff and leave the club, preferably the country."

Poor guy now he has no job, oh well he deserves it How do you lose to who ever the hell they are by 7 goals. Now it's time to find a new assistant.

Transfer Update

Dynamo Kiev were very active in the transfer window, signing 8 players, bringing one in on loan and selling 5 players including star winger Andriy Yarmolenko and club stalwart Oleg Gusev

So there you have it, Mair has moved to sign no fewer than 9 players. However there was some bad news as the following 5 players were offloaded:

Artem Milevskiy - £5.5 million
Eugene Khachiredi - £8 million
Denys Boyko - £2.1 million
