I am a new member and the reason i joined this site it appears the most helpful. I am trying to create a network game with my cousin, i set up the game and tick the box so i run as server. I then give my cousin the server IP address but he can never connect to server and vice versa:con. We are complete football manager mad and have been since the old days but would love to be able to play each other online instead of once a week when he can pop over. If anyone can give me a step by step guide how to do this you would be an absolute diamond.HHHHEEELLLLPPP!!!!!!!!!
well i havent played online with fm 09 so far.
But i think if ur using steam it should be easier? if u both add urselves to friends on steam and then just connect through steam?
if that isnt possible or doesnt work. and if ur not using steam.
Then u might want to use hamachi?
Sun should help you out with hamachi.
yeah you have to do it through it through some networking thing.

I have already tried doing it the way explained in the guide you posted man_u_barmy_army and it still says cannot connect to network.
IF anyone else knows of a way of doing it through the mentioned hamachi or antother way please post a reply. Will be greatly appreciated. Go back offshore wednesday for 2 weeks so would love to get a network game going.

i dont know if u still check here for help but maybe i can help i curently am playing a season online with some of my friends and we had the same problem in the begining try this who ever decides to be the host must not have a router pluged it has to be a straight connection dont know if thats ur problem but it was our problem let me know if this helps
I am wirelessly connected to an Orange Live box. Do you mean you need a wired connection or is it alright wirelessly. We have been trying since the game came out. If you can just put what you done step by step would really appreciate it. I dont get back til Thursday but will check it then. Cheers

You are allowed to have a routed, you just need it set up correctly.
I have created a Virtual Server on my router and it runs perfectly with no additional third-party software required.
