Tottenham Hotspur manager, Andre Villas-Boas insists that his team ready for the final few games of the season.

"We're ready, the team are playing with confidence and they want to win every game - we need to treat every game as a cup final. The players know how much this means for the fans and they're making sure they can do it. Not just for themselves, but the fans too."

In previous seasons, Tottenham have often be labeled by their rivals as 'bottlers' due to their inability to finish the season strongly, often resulting in a fall in the final table placement.

In the 2011/12 season under former manager Harry Redknapp, Tottenham looked set to finally to finish in the top four and ultimately gain a place in the Champions League after their foray the previous season, where they were knocked out by Real Madrid in the Quarter final.

For the most part of the season, Tottenham had occupied third place and at one point look like challenging for the title. Towards the end of the season, with only 13 games left to be played, Tottenham crashed and collected just a mere 15 points from a total of 39 - winning 4, drawing 3 and losing 5. Some of those loses included a 5-2 demolition by Arsenal at the Emirates, a 2-1 loss to Norwich City and a 1-0 loss against relegation candidates QPR.

Tottenham's burn out ultimately cost them and while they finished the season in a respectable fourth place, Chelsea - who had finished the season in sixth - and by now were without current manager AVB - had reached the final of the Champions League. Of course - there can only be one outcome... Chelsea went on to win the Champions League (albeit undeservedly) resulting in Tottenham's demotion the Europa League.

A similar problem occurred again last season; during AVB's first season in charge. Tottenham were flying high at the top of the league and had picked up a record number of points. However, after collecting two points from nine ( a win would have secured the title ), they lost the title to Manchester United on goal difference.

Currently, Tottenham hold a nine point gap over their North London rivals, Arsenal, with only 7 games to go. However, their final run-in includes Premier League games against Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton. Will they hold out to win their first division title since 1960, or will they have to wait yet another year to get their hands on it?

Hopefully we'll replicate that result this weekend ;). It's weird, the last two times I've met Chelsea I've beaten them with ease... (this 4-0 result and 5-0 in the Capital One Cup final)Not sure if it's because I'm just that amazing or Jose Mourinho sucks

Tottenham and England striker, Jermain Defoe has called for the Tottenham hierarchy to let him leave. We can confirm from the man himself that he is looking to move, after he spoke to our Sky reporters.

"I love Tottenham - I have spent 11 years here at Tottenham and have seen them grow. But I'm getting older - I'm 31, and I feel that if I want to achieve anything then I will have to leave. He [AVB] is a good manager, and I am glad to have worked under him, but he's a bit obsessive and I don't enjoy working under him much anymore. I am saying all this, not to spite the Tottenham fans, because I love them, but as a plea to the board, to Levy and Andre to see that I am better than this and that I deserve to move onto greener pastures"

His outburst is believed to have shocked the Tottenham board, fans, and staff at the club. Defoe, to many, has been seen as a club icon. What makes the Tottenham board question his sudden transfer request even more is that Tottenham have recently reached the semi-finals on the Champions League; and during the two years that Defoe has worked under AVB, Jermain has picked up winners medals in the Capital One cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Europa League. He also looks set to gain a Premier League medal too - if this doesn't scream ambition, then what does?

What looks like could be his last season will have no doubt not been helped by the fact that both Portuguese striker, Olveira, and Spanish striker, Roberto Soldado - who between them them, in 35 appearances scored a total of 25 goals - are above the pecking order of the Englishman.

Last season, he made only 8 premier league appearances, scoring a total of three goals. It is believed that he has been banished to train with the reserves. Defoe has also decided not to go on Holiday while he looks for a new club.

Tottenham are believed to be holding out for around £6,000,000, with Reading reportedly interested.

Brad Friedel has announced his plans to retire once the season comes to a close. The American shot stopper has enjoyed a fruitful career which many professionals would be jealous of.

The 43 year, who will be leaving Tottenham after 3 years reflected on his career, stating "It's been a great career - amazing, really. I've enjoyed it every single bit and have no regrets. I've played with and against, some amazing teams and I am forever grateful for the clubs that took me on."

To be honest with you, I am looking forward to spending some more time with my family and kids. I'll miss it, though - playing, that is. I'm not looking to bow out of the game completely. I'm hopeful of going into a goalkeeping coaching role or even a managerial role, whether that's possible or not remains to be seen."

During his career, which has lasted between 1995 to 2014, Friedel has represented 6 clubs and made over 500 career appearances. Of the clubs played for, the most notorious were Galatasary, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Blackburn.

He also represented his country (the USA) on 86 occasions before retiring from International football in 2005.

Sad to see Friedel leave, but it was about time.. :P! Defoe is a dick, take him out of Spurs, he's a disgrace.
