Yugoslavia: A New beginning

Prva Liga Yugoslavija
The top tier contains 18 teams. It starts off with 2 CL spots, though neither are group stage, and up to 3 EL places. The bottom two teams are automatically relegated. No more than 6 foreign players are allowed in a match squad, while the prize money ranges from 4.8M for winning to 1.25M for finishing last. The teams that start at this level are here.

Druga Liga Yugoslavija
The second tier contains 36 teams, split into two divisions - Istok (East) and Zapad (West). The teams in the Istok division are from the former republics of Serbia, FYR Macedonia, and Montenegro, while the Zapad teams are from Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Slovenia. The top team from each is promoted while the bottom three are relegated. No more than 4 foreigners are allowed in a match squad here.

Republic Leagues
The third tier consists of leagues corresponding to each Socialist Republic. Each division starts with between 18 and 22 teams, though they're allowed to drop down to 16 in an attempt to maintain regional integrity. The top team is promoted and no teams are relegated. Here are the teams that start in each division: Bosnia, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.

Kup Marshal Tito (the real name -- no political statements here)
The cup features all of the teams in the structure as well as 45 unplayable teams that are in a sort of amateur league. There's a total of 214 teams that enter. In the three qualifying rounds, the 160 amateur league/republic league teams play. 20 teams come out of those to join the 36 Druga Liga clubs in the First Round, and the 18 Prva Liga teams join in the 1/16th finals, which are the Third Round. The winner gets 2.5M pounds and other teams get paid various amounts as they get knocked out.

There's also a reserve league and a U19 league.
Good luck!

Will be watching for sure.
I am very interested in this and I wish you good luck :P
Good luck lad.

Which Club Did I pick?

Red Star Belgrade, or simply Red Star are based in Belgrade, the major part of the Red Star Sports Society and the most successful club in Serbia, with a record of 25 national championships and 24 national cups in both Serbian and Yugoslav competitions. Red Star are also the most successful club in Yugoslavia and finished as first in the Yugoslav First League all-time table. They are the only Serbian and Yugoslav club to have ever won the European Cup, having done so in 1991, and the only team from the Balkans and Eastern Europe to have ever won the Intercontinental Cup, which it also won in 1991. In the following season, Red Star reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Before they reached 1957, 1971, the semi-finals, as well as 1958, 1974, 1981, 1982, 1987 the quarterfinals of the European Cup. In 1979, they reached the UEFA Cup final, but lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Also, they reached in 1975 the semifinals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

The Eternal Derby

According to 2008 polls, Red Star Belgrade is the most popular football club in Serbia, with nearly 48.2% of the population supporting them. They have many supporters in all other former Yugoslavian republics and in the Serbian diaspora. Their main rivals are fellow Belgrade side Partizan. The championship matches between these two clubs are known as The Eternal derby. In September 2009, Daily Mail ranked the Red Star – Partizan derby fourth among the 10 greatest football rivalries of all time.
According to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics' list of the Top 200 European clubs of the 20th century, Red Star Belgrade is the highest-ranked Serbian and ex-Yugoslavian club, sharing the 27th position on the list with Feyenoord. In 2011, American web site Bleacher Report ranked Red Star among the Top 50 most influential teams in the world.

Rising From The Ashes

At the end of the World War II, several of pre-war Yugoslav clubs were dissolved because they had played matches during the war and were labelled collaborators by Marshal Tito's communist authorities. One of these clubs were SK Jugoslavija from Belgrade. Red Star was formed from the remains of Jugoslavija and they were given their red and white colours. The typical kit of Red Star is a shirt with red and white vertical stripes, and red or white shorts and socks. Sometimes used the club also an all-red one next to the all-white one

Stevan Stojanovic: A True Red Star

He came through Red Star's youth ranks. He spent a couple of seasons as a substitute to Yugoslav internationals like Tomislav Ivković and Živan Ljukovčan before debuting in the 1986-87 season. He participated in Red Star's 4:2 win over Real Madrid in European Cup 1/4 finals and stopped a Hugo Sanchez's penalty kick in Belgrade.

He quickly became a fans' favourite and was nicknamed Mali Dika ("Dika Jr.") after Red Star's goalkeeper from late seventies and early eighties, Aleksandar Stojanović (no family relationship to Dika Sr.). He won his first Yugoslav title with Red Star in the 1987-88 season and repeated it by winning a national double in 1989-90. A few days before a crucial 1/8 finals UEFA Cup against 1. FC Köln, Stojanović broke his arm during practise. Although Red Star had a comfortable 2:0 advantage from the first match in Belgrade (in which Stojanović was the best player alongside legendary Dejan Savićević), its superstars fell apart at Müngersdorfer Stadion and conceded two late goals before losing 3-2 on aggregate.

After the departure of Red Star's captain Dragan Stojković in the summer of 1990, Stojanović was voted team captain and led his team mates to Red Star's first and only European Cup title in 1990–91. He missed only one game and bailed-out his superstar team mates on many occasions during the campaign. In a nerve-wracking semi-final against Bayern Munich he conceded a memorable goal from Klaus Augenthaler right through the legs, which turned the momentum in Bayern's favour. However, he blocked several difficult shots before Augenthaler scored an infamous own goal in injury time, which sent Red Star to Bari, to participate in the finals against Olympique de Marseille. Again, there was no glamour from Red Star's superstars Savićević or Prosinečki, it was Stojanović who stole the show during 120 minutes and especially in the penalty shootout, when he stopped Manuel Amoros's shot, which resulted in Red Star Belgrade triumphing 5-3 on penalties. Stojanović also became the first goalkeeper to captain a Champions' Cup winning team.

Later he played for Belgium's Royal Antwerp and made an appearance at the 1993 European Cup Winners' Cup Final against Parma AC.

22 years on and he is still a house hold name at the Markana and was appointed manager this month here is his story in what he and the board hope is many seasons of success back in the promised land of Yugoslavia.

Interesting story idea, definitely following!
