MCGEE UNVEILED AS NEW BLACKBURN BOSS
Blackburn Rovers have revealed that ex-England midfielder Billy McGee will be the man to take the helm at Ewood Park in place of Steve Kean, who was sacked following the club's relegation to the Npower Championship. On the appointment, McGee had this to say:
"I am elated to have been selected as Blackburn manager. It's not very often you get the chance to manage a club as big as Blackburn. Shebby Singh phoned me up and asked me if I'd meet up for a coffee. So I accepted and we got talking and then he got down to the contract. We negotiated for a little while, deciding who gets what but I had a clear thought in my mind. I knew I couldn't turn down the opportunity to manage a club as big as Blackburn and all I wanted was to reach an agreement that would see me installed as manager.
I believe this club is destined for great things and I can't wait to be a part of it"

Born and raised in Leeds, McGee grew up a Leeds fan and graduated to the first team at the age of 17. Having made 200 appearances and scoring 32 goals, McGee moved on to Everton at the age of 25 where he made 98 appearances and scored 14 goals in a four-year spell with the club.He then moved on to play for Blackburn's rivals Bolton. He lasted just a year before a horrific injury cut his Bolton stint short. He left on a free transfer shortly after his recovery at the age of 31 and joined Gillingham where he played a part in the club's playoff failure against Man City in 1999, the year he decided to draw his career to a close. Now 47 years old and having taking up various coaching roles at Chester City, Burnley, Bradford City and Farsley, McGee had been looking for a management job since last month and is reportedly delighted to have found one at Blackburn.
