The first month after my retirement was very hard. No training, no match played, no football...I really didn't like this.Every day I called my agent to see if tehre is any interes, but nothing, until one day, I wake up, turn on the TV and there I see:
Walter Mazzarri, ex-Napoli manager has been appointed as Inter Milan new manager

I tought this is my chance, I called my agent to see if he has any news.Surprise, he said that he was about to call me, because Aurelio De Laurentiis (Napoli's President) invited us at dinner. I was so excited I can't tell, this will be my first contact with world of football after my retirement. So I went at the dinner, we talked about the team, about what are my ambitions, what are his demands and we aranged a meeting tomorrow morning at his office.
Next morning I was in his office, with a contract on teh desk, in my first season I will have to qualify Napoli in Europa League, for this I have a transfer budget of 15 mln euros.
He told me I can bring my own staff, so I went home and start calling.
Who will accept my offers to join my staff and which players will I manage to sign? We'll have to wait and hope for the best!

I'm confused... Allegri is Milan's manager now... he never managed Napoli...?
I am sorry, I dont know what I was thinking, I edited now. Thank you for the observation!
Also, Aurelio di Laurentiis is not Napoli's manager...he's the chairman.

So I had to make my staff list, I had to find one Director of football, one Assistant manager, one head of youth developement, 6 coaches, 2 Gk coaches, 2 fitness coaches, 4 physios and some scouts. After a lot of calling and negotiating My staff looks like this:
    Director of Football
    Assistant Manager
I choosed him because he knows Italian football very good and he is an exceptional motivator.

    Head of Youth Developement
Clearly one of teh best in the world, and at the same time he has veryy good knowledge of italian young players.

    Coaches
I called some of my best friends from football, who now they are retired and this is what I managed to sign:
Some of them are inexperienced, they are at the begining of thei career, but I bet they all have great potential and I hope we will do a good job together.

    Goalkeeper coaches

    Fitness coaches

    Head Physio

    Physios

    Chief Scout

    Scouts

This is my staff, I am very glad I was able to sign them. Now I'll have a meeting with my director of football and chief scout to decide where we need improvements. I will adopt a strategy of singing mostly players who can speak Italian.

    General Manager = Chairman

    Transfer period and PreSeason

Until we played our first friendly game (28 july), we didn't make any transfer, I wanted to wait and see how the players will perform.
We lost our first game, but we played pretty well, we just missed a lot.Our biggest problem was that Higuain got injuried and he will be out for 5-6 weeks, this means he will miss the preseason.

Our second friendly was against Osasuna. We played very bad and lost 2-0. I still didn't get angry because I knew I have a big contribution to this losses because I was trying to find the perfect strategy and made a lot of changes.

After this game I decided we need to buya replacement for Higuain, so I put my scouters to search for a good and cheap backup for Higuaind, and they campe up with many names, from which I decided to sign Guido Marilungo on a fee of 5 mln euros from Atalanta.
But just incredible, he got injuried in his first training session, he will miss preseason too. This is pure bad luck!

Our third friendly was against Kayseri Erciyesspor, we won 5-1, the team played very good, it looks like I found the best strategy for this players.

I decided that we need another central defender so we start negotiating with some CD's.
Nex friendly we played Antalyaspor and won 3-1, we played well but sadly Zuniga got injuried. he will be uot for 3-4 weeks.

The next friendly we played against Rio Ave, we won 3-1 again. We are playing well, but we are still recieving goals to easy and I didn't manage too sign any CD yet.

Our last friendly was against Freamunde. We won 3-0, a solid game by our team, seems like this strategy suits our players perfectly.

In 25 august we played our first Serie A game against Cagliari. A very good game by our players, we were absolutely briliant there and won 4-0.
After this game we had 5 players in team of the week, including all our midfielders, it looks like we are very solid there, we also had 66% possesion in first Serie A game thanks to them.

At the draw for Chapions League groups we weren't lucky at all we drawed FC Bayern, At. Madrid and FC Kobenhavn, we'll probably fight with At.Madrid for teh second place.

In the last day of transfer window we managed to sign a new central defender, Davide Astori, for a fee of 15 mln euros, I believe he is one of the best central defenders in Serie A.
In this tranfer window we also get rid of some players:

    September

The month of september went pretty well, some good performances from our players. Also Higuain and Marilungo are back from injury so I had to slowly introduce them in the team.

Firs game was against Udinese, at home.We won the game 1-0 and we dominated from start to final whistle. We were superior at number of ocasions and possesion and the early 7th minute goal scored by Mertens got us the win.

In the second game of the month we met home At.Madrid in Champion League. We clearly dominated the game untill 57 minute but failed to score.Than,Zuniga made a horible tackle and recieved a red card so from 57 minute we went full defending. Final result 0-0, keeping in mind that we had a red cad, it was a decent result.

Third game of the month, away at Bologna. The players were very tired, so I made some changes in the start eleven but we lost the game 2-1.We had a lot of oportunities to score, but we just kept missing them.

The next game we played Atalanta.I knew that we have to win this game, else the morale will get low and the problems will start coming. The players played very good, excellent performance by Pandev with 2 goals scored. The defensive part also went very well, they had only 1 shot, and that shot was of target.Final score 3-0.

The last game of the month was away at Sassuolo. It was Higuain's first game in the starting line up and he played magnificently. The performence it's showed by the 3 goals he scored.Final score 1-3.

I was impressed by two players who were substitusions and played almost every game. They improved a lot over this month and had some good performances. This players are Josep Radosevic and Lorenzo Insigne.
Oooh, looks like someone took my recommendation :) I love it when people do that.

    October

In the first game of the month we traveled to Denmark to face Kobenhavn in Champions League. We dominated our oponents, 62% possesion and 23 shots, I would say it was a solid performance.

In second game we faced Lazio, a derby in Serie A. We won the game 2-0, I feld pretty sorry for Lazio, being my favourite team, but this is football.Great performance by Hamsik in this game. Also in this game Behrami got injuried in this game and will mis 3-4 weeks, a big loss for us.

Next game we went to Munich to face Bayern in Champions League. The players were very tired, too much games in a short period of time and now we have to face the Champions of Europe. We lost the game, bayern played very good. After this game we felled on 3rd position in our groupe.

Our next game was away at Genoa. We didn't put the best performance but Dossena saved us with a double.

In the last game of the month we faced Verona.Strangely they were on first place in Serie A, if we beat them we will go in front of them so I guess this was a big motivation for our players because they played very good and we won without problems.

    November

The first game this month we faced Inter at Giuseppe Meazza. A big derby of Italy, and also the firt game for Walter Mazzarri as manager against Napoli after he left them in the summer. It was a pretty equilibrated match, ended 1-1.

In the second game we faced Bayern at home in Champion League. We played very well and managed to get a victory but the price we played for this win was pretty big, 2 of our players got injuried, Behrami and Dossena.

Third game of the month came with a confortable win against Torino. We clearly dominated the game and I am pleased that Higuain started scoring almost every match.

Next game we faced Parma, we won in usual manner, clearly dominating the game at possesion and ocasions of scoring, but sadly Callejon got a second yellow card in the 88 minute so he was sent off.

The las game of the month was very tough and very important, we went to Vicente Calderon to face At.Madrid in Champions League. We won the game and we secured our qualification to First Knockout round of Champion League.

It was a perfect month with 5 wins in 5 matches and with Higuain starting to acomodate with italian football and starting to score. The only problem is the Marilungo doesen't look like he is enjoying his life at Napoli, he had poor performances, maybe a loan in the winter transfer period will help him.

    December

In the 1st of December we went to Livorno and won dominating clearly the game. But in this game happened something very bad for us, Hamsik got injuried and he will be out for around 4-5 weeks. I guess this is Insigne's chance.

A couple of days after this game my phone rings, I answer the phone and I heard:
"Hi boss, it's me, Pauleta (one of our scouts), I'm in Serbia at a cup for youth teams and I saw a player who looks very mature for his age, he plays much better than all of his age. He's name is Aleksandar Mitrovic and he is a striker, 18 years old, he plays for Partizan. We should sign him before anyone else does it"
    I said:
"Ok Pauleta, thank you for this report.I can't come to Serbia but I'll send Paulo Futre (Director of football) to negotiate with Partizan"
So he managed to sign him for 3 mln euros, I saw some tapes with his games, looks a good player, can't wait to train him.

Next game of the month we played Kobenhavn, we were qualified so I sent the reservs to play, game ended as a draw.

The next match we faced Roma, a game we dominated autoritarly, we won the game without a problem. Insigne is playing very good, he realised that now is his chance to impress.

Then we had a double against Sampdoria, a match in the Italian Cup and the other one in Serie A.We won both game without a problem.

In the last game of the year we faced Chievo. We played very well but had a lot of bad luck. The game ended as a draw.

We also had "a lot of luck" at the draw for Champions League next round, as you can see:

At the end of the year the Serie A table looks like this:

I sent my scouts to look for players who are in the last 6 months of contract, but will they find good players?players who can play at this level? or at least playeres with great potential? we'll have to wait and see!
