Great update aswell mate, keep up the good work!
Fantastic work James, it is looking more and more like you'll be a League One club next season ;)
AaronHJFT96:Cheers Aaron. Huertas hopefully will come good for me and it is just unfortunate he won't be with us for long and I won't be able to resign him. I have no idea what the last manager was but he had no idea about transfers.

Walter:Things are looking promising but not until I get a message in my inbox saying we are promoted will I be talking about being in league one.
Haha, who did he sign?
Wow some really nice signings and results mate. As for the story I think you have found the one again to replace Liverpool and Huddersfield IMO worthy of a SOTM nomination this month :D
AaronHJFT96:He didn't sign anyone of any significance and he seemed to just sign them on three month deals which has meant when I have wanted to sign players I can't because of the limit on loan players per season and my team is stretched a bit thin as the players on the three month deals have left. Idiot manager!

wellsy1498:I hope the signings come good as we have made a great start so far. I think the story is still a long way off the standard of my Liverpool and Huddersfield Town one but thanks for the recognition of it so far.
Ah we'll, look on wards and up wards I guess, Start your plans/signings for next season...I'm sure you can pull it off!

Rotherham United Reach Fourth Round!

Heading into this third round tie I had huge confidence in the team after the more than impressive start to my time with Rotherham United that has seen us be undefeated in all competitions. Due to this I headed into the game with a lot of confidence that we could come away with a win that would give us the chance to come up against one of the Premier League big teams, preferably at home.

When Charlton got their goal within two minutes, if I’m honest I had a few doubts that we could actually pull this off and I started to regret my decision playing the team in a 5-4-1 formation set to counter attacking. This choice of formation meant that it was going to be difficult to get back into the game but then we hit a stroke of luck with Chris Solly’s own goal after some great play on the wing from Herron who crossed the ball in and it bounced in off the Charlton defender. A few more chances were created after this but it took a stroke of brilliance from loanee Nacho Huertas saw him score a screamer from the edge of the box that found its way into the bottom right corner.

I was confident that now we had found the lead we would be able to see out the remainder of the game with us in the formation I had selected at the beginning of the game; it seemed like it was a good decision after all. I did take the decision to get the team to hassle the opponents and get stuck in which meant they couldn’t spend too much time on the ball. It did result in some yellow cards being earned but I wasn’t too concerned.

The players performed admirably and this is evident in their end of game ratings and we fully deserved to progress to the next round. I will be taking a different approach to the draw for the fourth round with me actually watching the draw instead of skipping to the final ties. We really could do with the money so let’s home for that important home tie.
Wow, fantastic effort by your players :D Good to see Nacho Huertas getting on the scoreboard!

It was a great goal by Huertas and I will be looking to him to score even more in the future. It is great to get past Charlton and hopefully get a Premier League club at the home ground in the next round.

Rotherham United Fight Back!

That has got to be one of the tensest, nerve racking and exciting games that I have been involved in a very long time. We got to an awful start with us being two nil down in the first half and to be honest we looked dead and buried; there was not a chance that we could get back into this tie. However, we have relied on Alex Revell many a time this season and he did the biz again and come up with the goods at the right time. He scored two great goals which saw us draw level when it had looked like Sheffield Wednesday were going to cruise to a comfortable win.

It was even better and I actually think I shouted out loud, probably to worry of my neighbours, when Jeff Goulding came out from nowhere and grabbed himself a goal. Goulding has not see much game time but instead has been sat in the reserves. When I took over the squad I didn’t even look at them and I kind of regret that decision as I do think Goulding might be able to come up with important goals just like the one in this game.

Chris Maguire had a storming game and he fully deserved his hat trick and on reflection of the statistics at the end of the game the draw was the fair result. This doesn’t stop me being disappointed that we didn’t manage to get through to the next round at the first time of asking as I am desperate to come up against a Premier League team at our home ground.

Players Brought In

Dean Parrett is an unbelievable signing for a team like Rotherham United. He is an ex Spurs player and he has so much potential especially for a League Two team. He is a very young player who already has statistics to that a lot better than the majority of the midfield players in the league. I had been worried that the departure of Tonge would mean that the creative flair would disappear from the team so it was important to bring players in to make up for it.

I cannot wait to line up Parrett alongside Huertas as I think the two of them, who are both young and hungry for game time, will do everything they can for the team. Yes they won’t be playing in the top league anymore but sometimes it takes a big step down the leagues in order for a player to reach their potential and I think that is what Parrett needs.

I am going to say right now, I have absolutely no idea why I have brought in Darel Russell and he is just going to be a very small strain on the wage budget. He is an experienced player but I don’t think he will get game time as the current defenders have already done a great job so far this season. I will give him a couple of chances in the first team but I can’t see him staking his claim on a regular first team spot. Russell might have to go down as one of the worst transfer decisions I have ever made.

Well unfortunately we didn't quite win and will have to settle for a replay which I am confident we can win. Parrett will get a fair bit of game time so I hope it will help boost his attributes. Russell on the other hand will not get much game time as he is close to useless!

January– Mixed Form

This was an extremely mixed month; however, we have continued to make excellent progress in the league and also have managed to get ourselves into the fourth round of the FA Cup. So despite the very disappointing results against Dagenham and Redbridge and Chesterfield, which I cannot explain, the rest of the month went according to plan.

With the month being extremely long and challenging there has been a lot of rotating taking place but it doesn’t seem to have disrupted the harmony in the club but instead they have appreciated the rest. It is vital that the player of the month Revell and others like Arnason and Parrett stay fit so in upcoming matches against teams lower in the league these key players will be rested so that they are fresh for more important matches.

With the way that things are looking I am starting to become a lot more confident that we will be in with a chance of promotion. I cannot determine whether it will be through the means of an automatic promotion, the play-offs or even winning the league. In my opinion it is still a bit too early to decide but I think the next few games will shape the final outcome.

Player of the Month – Alex Revell
