Steve Bruce quits as Hull manager after meeting with board

Steve Bruce has resigned as Hull manager, the club has confirmed.

Bruce quit after a meeting with Hull chairman Assem Allam and managing director Nick Thompson at the KC Stadium.

A statement from the club read: "Hull City Tigers can confirm that Steve Bruce has today resigned as Hull City Tigers manager."

On Monday, Bruce publicly challenged the Allam's decision to rebrand the club from ‘Hull City’ to ‘Hull City Tigers’.

The club’s statement continued: "The discussions focused on the board's decision to rebrand the football club, and Steve Bruce's response through a European broadcast interview.

"In a meeting for over an hour, Bruce's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of Hull City Tigers manager with immediate effect."

Thompson said: "I would like to stress that during [the] meeting and throughout his time as Hull manager, Steve has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner.

"We have accepted Steve's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Steve for his work with the Hull City Tigers team and wish him every success in the future."

A media conference with Thompson and the Hull City Tigers management team will take place at the KC Stadium on Saturday at 1200 GMT.

Hull Tigers will not be making any further comment until the media conference.

Friday's meeting was the first time Bruce had met with management since their decision to rebrand the club.
Good start, and good luck! :)

Will Trent appointed Hull City Tigers manager

Will Trent has been appointed Hull City Tigers manager on a four-year contract.

The former Reading boss succeeds Steve Bruce after talks with the club on Monday and Tuesday.

The 34-year-old will lead Hull after managing just three teams, including the Canadian national team, during a coaching career spanning 6 years following a career ending injury as a player.

"Let's hope we can get everybody behind us and make certain that we work as a team and help the team get the results everyone in Hull expects and wants," said Trent.

Hull have five friendlies, including a trip to Spain, before their first match in the Premier League against Manchester City on 18 August.

The Hull City Tigers said in a statement it was "delighted" to announce the appointment of Trent.

The club announced on Saturday it had approached Trent for the job despite widespread speculation linking former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins with the vacancy after Bruce quit last week.

Trent guided Reading to promotion to the Premier League in 2012 but decided to part ways with the club last January following a takeover bid. Reading went on to be relegated at the end of the 2012/2013 campaign.

Trent’s former clubs include starting his managing career at non-league Maidstone, and a playing career with Fulham and Leeds.
