Steve Bruce quits as Hull manager after meeting with board
Steve Bruce has resigned as Hull manager, the club has confirmed.Bruce quit after a meeting with Hull chairman Assem Allam and managing director Nick Thompson at the KC Stadium.
A statement from the club read: "Hull City Tigers can confirm that Steve Bruce has today resigned as Hull City Tigers manager."
On Monday, Bruce publicly challenged the Allam's decision to rebrand the club from ‘Hull City’ to ‘Hull City Tigers’.
The club’s statement continued: "The discussions focused on the board's decision to rebrand the football club, and Steve Bruce's response through a European broadcast interview.
"In a meeting for over an hour, Bruce's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of Hull City Tigers manager with immediate effect."
Thompson said: "I would like to stress that during [the] meeting and throughout his time as Hull manager, Steve has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner.
"We have accepted Steve's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Steve for his work with the Hull City Tigers team and wish him every success in the future."
A media conference with Thompson and the Hull City Tigers management team will take place at the KC Stadium on Saturday at 1200 GMT.
Hull Tigers will not be making any further comment until the media conference.
Friday's meeting was the first time Bruce had met with management since their decision to rebrand the club.
