Season 1 - November

The whole team at Wolfsburg went into November with a high level of morale and hoping for more high level performances. Die Wolfe carried on from where they left off in October with a very good away 2-0 victory at Leverkusen.

Next up was a very tough away league fixture against Dortmund, one of the favourites for the title. Wolfsburg produced an excellent defensive performance stopping Dortmund getting any clear cut chances and gained and an excellent an creditable 0-0 draw

Furth were the next visitors to play Wolfsburg in what turned out to be a somewhat dissapointing 0-0 draw after wolfsburg's start to the season.

It was time to visit the Imtech arena and play HSV, Wolfsburg gaining a close fought 1-0 away victory with a good defensive performance

Cantona explained "We have had a terrific month not conceding any goals against some of the strongest sides in Bundesliga, I'm getting a feeling inside me that this could turn out to be a very successful year for us. The 0-0 draw away to one of the favourites Dortmund was a particular highlight as we restricted them to very little and you could see they were getting frustrated making silly mistakes. Overall I'm a very happy manager at present and as long as the lads keep performing we can expect European football next season

It was time for the 3rd Round of the German Cup and unbelievably 2nd Division Koln knocked out the home favourites

"It was definitely not one of our better months, especially being knocked out of the cup against a 2nd tier side. I'm hoping the lads don't eat too much Christmas pudding this year and knock our form" said Cantona

"Naldo has been an absolute rock at the heart of our defence and has been producing some fine performances so far this season. I will be looking for him to carry on leading our team to solid results and get us into those European football places"

Season 1 - January

Cantona's side headed into the new year with a few friendlies to keep the side fresh and match fit but were soon back into the Bundesliga, first up was a home fixture against title favourites FC Bayern ending in a 2-1 loss.

Next up was an away visit to Freiburg resulting a dissapointing 2-0 loss

Stuggart were the league leaders and visited Wolfsburg looking to extended their lead at the top of the table, but Die Wolfe produced a solid performance and came away 3-1 winners

"Its been a bit of an up and down month for us, we arranged some mid season friendlies to try and keep the squad fresh and match fit for when we came back after the mid season break. We had a great home win against the current league leaders Stuggart and that should hopefully keep the morale high within the squad. We are still in the mix for those European spots and that is my main focus for the rest of the season. I'm hoping in this second half of the season that we can push on and secure European football for this great club" Cantona explained

Unlucky with the Freiburg result and nothing you can really do about Bayern. Although great wn vs. Stuttgart!

I know, was abit frustrated with the Freiburg result and to be honest didn't really expect anything against Bayern, but was really happy with the performance against Stuggart!

Season 1 - Febuary & March

It was the beginning of Febuary and Wolfsburg hosted Frankfurt in a horrible game in which striker Ivica Olic was sent off for the home side with a vicious foul , this resulted in a 2-0 home loss

"I am furious with Ivica, as he has let his teammates & club down , he will certainly be reporting to my office in the morning and fined 2 weeks wages" Cantona said

Carrying on with some good form against Nurnberg it resulted in a solid 3-0 home victory

Next up was an away game against Dusseldorf, Wolfsburg producing a deissapointing performance and a 2-0 away loss

A tough away game at Hannover, but Wolfsburg producing another solid defensive performace coming away the 2-0 winners

Wolfsburg then played a determined Hoffenheim side which produced an exciting game with goals on both sides ending in a 2-2 draw

Cantona "Overall we have had a good two months in terms of results and we are still hanging in there. I'm looking for the lads to give it a last final push now the season is coming near its end so we can secure one of the European spots. From looking at the table it appears it will be very close at the end of the season and all the teams up the top will be fighting it out"

So into April and it was a tough away game against Stuttgart, which showed as Wolfsburg were dominated and with Jan Polak being sent off for two bookable offences it made it even harder to get anything out of the game.

"I'm not happy with Jan as it was for 2 stupid tackles he made and very early on in the game aswell. It left us on the back foot for the majority of the game and we found it very difficult, its a shame as he is one of the senior figures in the team" explained Cantona

So into the final month of the season and Wolfsburg's closing games were against Gladbach, Augsburg & Mainz. Wolfsburg needed some good results in order for them to secure that European spot they so muchly desired. First up was a challenge away to Gladbach and a closely hard fought game but Wolfsburg nicking the winner towards the end of the game.
