A Wealth Of Choice

A week had gone by, and all the offers came back to me. It looked an easy choice on paper, really, with teams like AGOVV and SC Mirandela offering me jobs. These teams were much better compared to the other teams, like Lubeck who were in the fourth division of German football.

My tactic was to start eliminating options as I went, and the first thing I did was look at the Spanish job offers. All had fancy names and logos and were tempting, but I knew that I could just not manage in Spain, so I turned them all down.

UD Logrones looked one of the most tempting, but starting my career in Spain was not an option. I looked through the other offers still there. There was a lot of variety in there, with teams from France, Germany, Portugal and elsewhere in there. I also decided to not apply for all English jobs because the long seasons are what put me off playing them.

Now I really had to make a decision. I went about rejecting offers that I knew I didn't want. Those included the offers from France, Portugal and some others. Now I was left with three choices. AGOVV, Lubeck or Orberneuland. The two latter were in the Fourth Division of German football, meaning less pay but less expectation. Meanwhile, AGOVV were in the Jupiler League and there was more expectation.

But.. they were a proffessional side and both Lubeck and Orberneuland were semi-pro. But I had already made my mind up.

I decided to sign a contract at Regionallia North side VFL Lubeck! There offer of a one-year contract gave me a season to boost my rep, and if I like it here, I might stay longer. The jumpers are green and white vertical stripes and they have already played one fixture, so my first game will be at Cloppenburg.

Good luck with Lübeck

Meeting VfB Lubeck

VfB Lubeck compete in the Regional Division North, one of many legues in the fourth tier of German football. They are a semi-professional club and wear green and white vertically striped shirts. They had a very good preseason which should provide some confidence. They also won their first match which gives the team a bit of momentum.

The first thing I did when I walked into my office was greet my staff. There was no point changing anyone for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I didn't know any better options for this league, and secondly, they had done pretty well with them so far. I met my assistant Mr. Bohm and he seemed like a great guy. I also had the chance to meet the other staff too and they seemed to have relatively good knowledge on the club and the game most importantly.

The next thing I did was meet the players. I introduced myself to them and they all seemed to react positively to the team talk, which could be more beneficial than I think. After that I went into my office and my assistant gave me some reports, including tactics, set pieces and captain suitabilities.

The team seems to have strength in all areas. Even if we do have a transfer market open I don't think it would be any better if we did make signings, and it could wreck the morale which already seems to be decent anyway. I think I would stick to see if the team spirit could guide us through this season. Maybe I'd analyse the weaknesses and use the January Window to patch them up.

After some sessions on the training ground I managed to pick up a few coaches and friends. Three coaches all arrived and two of them were English. Steve Sedgley was one of them and he obviously knew the defensive side of the game very well.

The other was Len Bond, who is our goalkeeping coach. He has some great knowledge and skills and he seems very adaptable and motivated to help out the quad. The final coach was Markus Beierle, who would focus on the attacking side with our players.

Me and Bohm would focus on tactics, so it looks like all training areas are covered and we are ready for our first game versus Cloppenburg!
