I am managing my local club, Newport Isle of Wight... started in the bottom league, 9 divisions down. Money is a big issue and I have read that I should play pre-season friendlies against big clubs to gain money. I set up about 10 pre-season friendlies against good opposition and it estimated I would make around £50,000 from these. However once I played these friendlies I found my balance going down.
I looked in detail where my money was going out. Although my gate takings were about £5,000 for each one, in the expenditure I was losing around £20,000 each time in "Other". This lead to my team being around £200,000 in debt. Ouch.
Has anyone had this problem before? Anyway I can avoid this?
