Transfer Round-Up

In

The ex-Wigan man has followed manager Roberto Martinez out of the DW Stadium and to Everton. The deal was secured for £10million for the 21 year old. He will be the starting center mid for most of the season next to Gibson.

Tom Ince has been captured for £9.5million. Another young player at 20 years old but he has shown at Blackpool he has a very very bright future ahead of him. A future star for Everton football club and will be in the starting XI on the left wing.

Matavz, the 23 year old striker, was brought in for £12.5million. His sudden increase in value to £15million shows the ability he has. Throughout the season he will be rotated with Jelavic depending on form and fitness. A great buy.

Out

Fellaini. Had lots of interest off bigger clubs and Everton didn't want to keep a player who wanted to go. Everton received £30million from Tottenham Hospur and that was enough to see him leave. A great player but the money was needed for the transfers.
Hibbert also left for £2million.
Anichebe, Lundstram and Garbutt have been given season long loans.

Pre Season Demolition

Everton Reserves

Everton reserves came out the blocks blaring and went 2-0 up within 10 minutes. However, the first team soon got into it. After 22mins, Jelavic made it 2-1. On the 39th minute Osman made it level. Mirallas and Barkley then finished off the win and made it 4-2 to the first team. Mirallas earning the MOTM. A decent start.

Aberdeen

A quicker start from the Toffees this time with Pienaar making it 1-0 after 8 minutes. Mirallas and Jelavic extended the lead by 60 minutes to make it 3-0. McStay then pulled one back for Aberdeen before Osman finished them off and the game finished 4-1. A good win with Pienaar getting the MOTM award.

Bury

Well and truly buried Bury. A 4-0 drumming from the Everton boys. New signing McCarthy got the first, with the other new boy scoring 2 on his debut. Mirallas scored once again to finish off the 4-0 win. Tom Ince proved a inspired signing with the MOTM award in his first game.

Preston

The Toffees finished off a good pre-season with another clean sheet against Preston. Mirallas scored in his 4th consecutive friendly game to make it 1-0. Pienaar and youngster Vellios finished the game off and it finished 3-0. Captain fantastic Jagielka got the MOTM.

August

Swansea

Martinez's first competitive match as Everton boss, also Mirallas, McCarthy, Matavz and Ince made their Everton debuts. Mirallas set off Everton to a flyer on his debut with a goal in the first minute of the game, which later got goal of the month. Another new signing of McCarthy scored the last goal of the game in the 49th minute. Mirallas got the MOTM and also was rewarded by getting in the team of the week. A good 2-0 start.

West Ham

The first home game of the season proves to be a boring one. A 0-0 draw after a game that Everton dominated. Slightly disappointing due to the one sided nature of the game but that's football. The West Ham keeper got MOTM proving the Toffee's dominance. Oviedo made his Everton debut in this game.

Oxford - Capital 1 Cup Round 2

Martinez's first Cup game in charge of Everton, he allowed youngster George Green to make his pro debut. Everton made a cracking start with Gibson putting them ahead after 2 minutes. However, 2 minutes later Oxford equalised! Poor Jake Wright scored a own goal to put Everton back ahead, then new signing Matavz scored on his first start. Ex-United player Gibson received the MOTM for the 3-1 win. A good unbeaten month for the Toffees, one hopefully to build on.

September - 1

Southampton

Away at Southampton is no easy game, and this was no different for Martinez's men. Everton skipper Jagielka put it 1-0 to the visitors on the stroke of half time. A penalty then was awarded to Southampton on the 51st minute which Lambert scored. Ramirez then made the underdogs 3-1 ahead in the 89th minute. New man McCarthy then gave the Toffees a glimmer of hope in the 92nd minute but it was too late. Final result 3-2, not the best.

Reading

Glad-fully a slightly easier game next against Reading at home. The first half brought no goals and it looked like it could be a dull nil nil. However, the 58th minute brought a goal from Baines which was then followed by a Jelavic goal from the subs bench. 2-0 Everton, with Mirallas taking the MOTM. A great start to the season from the right winger.

Tottenham

The hardest fixture of date with a game at White Heart Lane. Yet, Pienaar put Everton ahead within the half hour mark. A Dembele double then turned it around to put Tottenham 2-1 ahead. A terrible decision by referee Lee Mason, a penalty was awarded to Spurs which was converted by Dempsey. Martinez openly complained about the decision afterwards and the FA kept quiet as they agreed it was wrong. Kaboul and Walker then added to the demolition and made it 5-1 to Tottenham. Jelavic then was brought on by Martinez and it proved successful as he scored a minute later. 5-2. Then another minute later, 86mins, Jelavic scoots around Spurs' keeper and as he was about to shoot gets tackled by Dawson, however the ball ends up in the back of the net!! 5-3. 87th min, Baines hit the bar, it could of been 5-4! Also, without the penalty decision it could of easily been a draw. Very unlucky from the Toffee's and a good effort from 5-1 down. FT 5-3.

Colchester

Martinez goes for a weaker side than normal which he hopes will do the job.

Amazing goalkeeping from Colchester and a great defence saw the game go to extra time after a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes despite 20 shots from Everton. In the 116th minute it looked like it was going all the way to penalties. Another great stop from a Baines shot rebounded to Hitzlsperger 30 yards out who hits it first time in to the top left corner!! Unbelievable finish, what a winner. Martinez would of liked to win it a bit earlier and Pienaar blamed it on the lack of ambition in the team talks however Roberto replied by saying he will try harder in the coming games. 1-0 Everton go into the fourth round, which will be against Aston Villa.

Until December

Martinez's exciting football continued against West Brom, leading to a 6 goal thriller. A 3-3 draw. However, Everton went 3-0 up with goals from Pienaar and Baines at half time the side should of seen the game out. Everton allowed West Brom back in the game with a double from Lukaku and James Morrison snatched the draw in the 85th minute. A very poor result in the circumstances.

Chelsea and Man City next left Everton with 0 points from the two games and conceding 11 goals. Martinez didn't expect to get anything from the games however 11 goals conceded is not good enough. The Goodison Park crowd are getting a bit etchy and are not happy with the side or their manager.

A long awaited win came with the game against Stoke at home. Signing Matavz scoring a late winner to send the Everton crowd into raptures. However, the fans are still not sure on new manager Martinez or his style of attacking football which allows many goals to be conceded.

The next 3 games, Villa, Sunderland and Norwich. The fans are expecting 9 points and everything happened except that. The attacking style continued against Norwich which led to 3 goals being scored, however Everton were wide open at the back and that allowed 4 goals to be conceded. From leading 3-1 this again is a very poor and disappointing result for the increasingly annoyed Toffees fans. Sunderland away was very much the same story, attacking football allowed the counter attack and Sunderland were 3-0 up in 10 minutes. The travelling Everton fans were booing their side's boss. Heitinga and McCarthy brought hope to bring it 3-2 but it wasn't enough. Another poor loss. Norwich topped off the poor form as Martinez trys a more balanced approach which back fires as Everton score no goals and still concede 2. The Board and the fans now want Martinez out and Banners are appearing in the crowd.

The next two games saw consecutive 2-1 wins against Wigan and QPR however the board had made their mind up already.

Everton sack Martinez

Ex Wigan and Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been sacked due to poor form in the Premier League this season and he is now in search for a new job. Everton have found a immediate replacement in Martin O'neill.
