Paul Lambert Sacked by Aston Villa

After assuring Paul Lambert that his job would be safe no matter where Villa finished in the league, the Villa board have performed a huge U- turn and sacked Lambert effective immediately. In a shocking turn of events, just last week Paul was assured he would still be in a job, the Villa board have chucked him out. The growing feeling is that there is something more going on but this wasn't evident at a press conference held at Villa Park in which Lambert stated:

"I feel betrayed by Randy and the board of executives at Aston Villa Football Club. Just recently they gave me the confirmation I needed that I would be in a job next season. I am utterly shocked and fell horrible that I put my trust in the board and they have betrayed me. I would like to say in conclusion that whoever gets the job will have a cracking playing and coaching staff to work with but a less than satisfactory board...."

Early front runners for the vacant place include Neil Lennon (10/1) Frank Rijkaard (12/1) and Eric Cantona (20/1). The odds on a return for Martin O'Neill is at (100/1)
Good odds! :P Nice start mate, more like this and I'll follow for sure :D

Neil Lennon Arrives in the Midlands for Crunch Talks

Neil Lennon has flown in to Villa Park from his luxury holiday abroad in Dubai to discuss terms for the vacant managerial position at Aston Villa.

Lennon, 41, has managed Celtic since 2010 but it is rumoured that he has decided it is time for a change and sees Villa Park as the perfect destination.

Many of the Aston Villa players have apparently baulked at the fact that Lennon may be their new manager as they feel he is too inexperienced and will not be successful under the straining demands of the Premier League.

Ron Vlaar was reported saying "He's used to playing teams like Motherwell with about 600 spectators, not playing away at Manchester United with 60,000 spectators. I just don't feel he is the right man for the job."

Nothing is finalised yet but it is looking increasingly likely that Aston Villa will have a ginger in charge next season...

good luck dude

Talks with Lennon Collapse

Aston Villas attempt to agree terms with Neil Lennon have stalled and apparently collapsed after Lennon wanted a lot more money than Villa were able to offer and also wanted to implement a different philosophy of signing experienced players instead of blooding younger players.

The new front runner for the job is Frank Rijkaard as critics claim he has the experience and passion to bring Villa a potential European spot. Outsiders include Eric Cantona, Walter Smith and Phil Neville with Martin O'Neill a huge outsider at odds of 100/1.

100/1 Contender has Arrived at Villa Park for Discussions

Martin O'Neill is meeting with Aston Villa representatives for talks over a potential move to the Midlands club. The Irishman who has been unemployed since being sacked by Sunderland and is relishing the chance to get back into management. Our Sky Sports Aston Villa correspondent Bob Smith reports :

Martin O'Neill, 61 years old, has been in talks with representatives of Aston Villa football club for about 2 hours and rumours emanating out of Villa Park is that a deal may be about to be agreed. This incredible turn of events will stun the football world as Martin was rumoured to have fallen out with Randy Lerner when he left the club after his first spell. Bob Smith, Sky Sports News.

Aston Villa have scheduled a press conference for tomorrow afternoon and this can surely be to unveil Martin O'Neill as the new manager.

Aston Villa Managerial Unveiling

The annual Aston Villa pre-season press conference is about to get underway. This year topics will be discussed such as the new manager, potential signings and predictions. Villa have managed to keep there managerial appointment so well under wraps that nobody actually knows who it is. Martin O'Neill is likely but we don't know if a deal was agreed with him. Anyway here comes the head of media, Brian Doogan to talk to the press.

BD - BRIAN DOOGAN
MOM - MEMBER OF MEDIA

MOM - So Brian the burning question we all want answered is whos the new manager? Can you shed any light on that?

BD - Yes, I can. He is actually waiting outside right now.

A man walks out and sits down on the seat next to Brian. He is wearing the Aston Villa mascot, Rampant Lions', mask and the press don't know who it is.

MOM - So who is it?

BD - Cant you tell?? It is the one the only...........STILYIAN PETROV!

Stilyian removes his mask and grins at the press, who are raucously applauding him.

Petrov answers a few questions on football, targets and is battle against leukaemia in which he says he is ready to return to the sport. He then leaves the room to more applause, and the emotion is evident as some of the older journalists have tears in their eyes whilst the younger ones look completely awestruck.

Bob Terrence, an older journalist, says to the young whippersnapper, Bill Taylor, "That man is a legend, he's fighting leukaemia you know, and fighting it hard! If you ever disrespect that man in the press in anyway whatsoever I will see to it that your editor fires you effective immediately."
Nice story
