With just 5 days to go until the former England striker Michael Owen - who was appointed as manager of Oxford United last month - kicks off his managerial career fully with his first competitive match in the Capital One Cup, away to Npower Championship side Watford, we thought we'd show you the results that he managed to achieve in the pre-season friendlies. We'll also tell you who we thought the best player and young player was for the U's in our pre-season awards. Enjoy.

So with more than half of the matches won, Owen will undoubtedly be happy but after a heavy 4-0 loss to Premier League side Cardiff and a disappointing 1-0 to American side Seacoast Mariners, there is clearly some areas that need to be worked on. But he will be very happy after running out clear winners against Npower Championship team Doncaster Rovers who they beat 3-0 at The Kassam Stadium.

As for the player awards, our Player Of the Pre-season goes to new signing Dave Kitson who scored twice and set up one goal for Oxford.

The Young Player Of The Pre-season goes to another new signing, JJ Hooper,18, who was recently released by Premier League outfit Newcastle. He scored an important goal in the Doncaster game and some of his passing was great.
More details on Hooper and any other signings in the end of month transfer review.
I am the same as inquisition, very few of the images are loading for me.
Thanks I'll try and sort it

The Capital One Cup kicked off today, with all eyes looking towards the game at Vicarage Road, where Watford hosted Oxford United, the team who, last month appointed English legend Michael Owen as manager. The game went largely as expected with Watford dominating possession and scoring a goal either side of the half time break. Fernando Forrestieri scored in the first half, while Cristian Battochio scored the other goal. However Owen's team played well and had a few chances of their own. A host of new signings made their competitive debuts for the club including 33 year old Dave Kitson, previously of Stoke and Reading. For full statistics, see below.

Unlucky v Watford. I really like the idea your using of the Daily Mail, BBC etc. screenshot as a banner.
