So this is my first time playing FM Since 2008. I enjoyed the game but sadly lost it when i moved house, at this point i was enjoying fifa on the xbox.
so i loaded up & selected walsall at first as they are my local team, but the transfer budget was low & players wasnt good enough for me. so used my fave team, Manchester United, I wanted to make a young squad and for my 1st friendly i lined up like this

Strong start from united, Carrck scored in the 20th minute with a suberb assist from nani
10 mins later fabio takes down silva an new City signing Srna hits the free kick into the top right corner.
Rooney got injured just before HT so i put valencia RM/W And nani as my center forward
it was a equal game with both sides threatening a winner! it ended 1-1 & went straight to penalties with both teames missing the 1st! it ended up going into sudden death with carrick missing & silva scoring to win it for city

AMAZING Game from the lads in red & a great start to the season
a second minute free kick from young met the head of giggs perfectly & made it 1-0
we seemed to be all over swansea and in the 14th minute young's corner game straight to macheda at the back post for the perfect volley
3 minutes later amlling receivs the ball froma short young corner and gives it to nani on the edge of the area and Nani curves one in into the top corner
United dominated the game into the end of the half...
2 minutes after kick of a Nani corner converted in by smalling to make it 4-0
and in the 86th minute macheda went on a amazing run down the wing and played rooney through for the 5th and final goal

During the transfer window ive brought: Wilfried Zaha(Crystal Palace) For 11.5m, VERY overpaid but i think it will pay itself of in the future
Steve Mandanda(Marseille)18m Decent price for the french goalkeeper, a good back up for David DeGea or possibly a First team Keeper

Not a good display from the lads as they only manage a 1-0 win
an early red card for Rafael wasnt good either
i swapped carrick for Rafael then took Carrick of for vidic & converted to a 4-3-2 Formation
Rooneys 63'rd minute strike was enough to seperate the 2 sides as he ran through the center of the park & hit a low shot that came back of the post for him to simply slot in
the 2 New signings also made there debuts with Mandanda pulling of a few saves & 3 Zaha chances saved

I recommend you sell these players to get some extra money:

All youth players (they won't develop properly, even Progba, muc better with newgens)

Buy these players as soon as possible:

Buy these players if you can but don't buy the two players of the same position:
Javi Martinez
Fellani
Mark Hummels
Rene Addler(for him just wait till you hav enough money, Leverkusen put him up for sale in mine and I bough thim for 5.75 mil only)

youth players only develop prorerly if u use them .

i dont understand why everyone blows money on players and sending your club broke when if u have a strong enough youth system. just bring your young fellas through

You should check time to time if Tevez is unhappy, he did in all 3 save files of mine I played so far. You can buy him for 15 mil or less and he's a good player and possibly a good tutur.
If you are looking for a good tutor buy Raul(Schalke) and Van Nistelrooy. Although Nistelrroy might want to move or retire prematurely if you don't play him at least as a 3rd or 4rth striker.
Fabio and Rafael will not develop much, I had to sell Fabio while his value is up, manage to sell him for 15 mil. Rafael might be good RB but will not be a world class, you might need to sell him eventually too as he keeps asking for a raise evertime a team tries to buy him. Welbeck should be sold as well, he is not good enough and won't develop much either. Keep Tom Cleverly if you are selling Valencia and Young so you won't have a shortage of wingers.
Don't buy any over priced players either like Neymar or Moura Lucas, especially in your first season as you will have limited budget.
Hamsik is a must buy, play him as AP and train his tackling. Soon he will dominate midfield, he passes really well and has good striker skills, one his tackling is 15+ make him tackle a lot in games and your opponent will have a lot of trouble keeping the ball and moving to attack.

I did, I loaned a few and tutored them a lot, but by the second season most of the youngesters in my team (MU, this applies to real players not newgens) aren't developing much, some wanted to receive higher pay and some wanted to play more, they are also better sold as there are too many youths and some aren't even good enough to play in the u 18 group dispite my efforts. However for some reason youth players I buy from other teams e.g. Lorenzo Cristigh (Inter) and Rafinha (Barca) develops much faster and ends up being in first team, this also applies for newgens I get, they develope so much ion the space of 2 years that I could loan some to teams that play in the champions league and they become first team, e.g. FC Twente (I loaned Crisetig and Rafinha there at their 3rd season in the club, Twente made it to quarter finals because of the, dominating midfield, however Twente lost big against me as they canno play Rafinha and Crisetig due to loan agreement, MU 5-0 Twente).

certain stages in your season/ probably every 10 or so games

All I am going to say is if you want to see how to develope the youth at Man United, read Godman's story on the club. He has young players playing near on every week....and yes I mean players like Pogba, Cleverley etc etc.

i agree adamahc. im currently managing chelsea . every second games i play at least 3 of my younsters such as connor clifford . ryan bertrand and oriol romeu . its the only way they will develop. they can only develop so much playing in under 18s and reserves
