Monthly Update - December
Oh well, it had to end at some point. This month saw the end of our record breaking unbeaten streak in all competitions. It came after a loss against Celtic
which could have turned out alot worse than it did.
Here is a look at our overall unbeaten run that ran from the 24th of August till the 15th of December:
Despite the loss against Celtic
we still managed to have a good month, winning all of our other games, including a friendly against Peebles (5-0
), and 3 wins in the league against St. Mirren
) and Motherwell
By picking up the 9 points this month we had maintained our top-spot in the league and increased our lead to a still slender 2 points over Rangers
and a healthier 4 points over Motherwell
. Hopefully we can continue our winning ways against some more top of the league opposition in Hearts
as well as games against St. Johnstone
throughout the month.
We also have our Scottish Cup 4th Round match against Raith
early in the month with our League Cup Semi Final against Rangers
at the end of the month. Hopefully we can continue our cup runs after our successful runs last season.
With the start of the new year comes the start of the January Transfer window, we have been tipped to go for some players by the papers but here is the summary from the tabloids for the league:
We have however already brought in two players, one as cover, and one who is a huge coup for us as we are still relatively a small club in the Premier League, whilst also selling someone. Those players that are coming in and leaving are:
Marcus Johansson - ST - Sweden - 19 -
PA - Free - 5 year contract.
Andy Johnson - ST - England - 32 -
PA - Free - 1 year contract.
Michiel Kramer - ST - 24 - to Swindon - £60,000
We have also had a discussion with the Board about our expectations as the Board believe we can do much better than what we originally planned. However, I didn't want to put too much pressure on the squad as we were doing so well with our current expectations, so here is how the meeting ended:
