When I was in the NFD (ie second division) I had a couple of months were I would make a loss, generally due to playing three away games or some such. I had to be very hard on wages, and tight with my transfer budget which meant that most of my players and staff were free transfers with no comp payable.
The first couple of months in the PSL (Premier South African League) are not indicative yet, I still have the transfer proceeds from some players and my season tickets artificially inflating my income. I think the next month (Sept '14) will give me a clearer picture of where we sit with the books.
My methodology is still the same, if players get greedy, they get a smack, and if it happens too often, they get transferred.
