Roy Hodgson In Shock Resignation

In a surprising story coming from the FA this morning Roy Hodgson has announced his resignation with immediate effect as England manager after just less than three months in charge. He has come to make the decision due to him feeling as he approaches the twilight of his managerial career that he will not be able to manage with the time and commitment that is necessary.
The FA have released statement saying how they were deeply saddened to receive Roy's letter of resignation and tried to persuade him to stay on but his mind was already made up. However Roy hasn't ruled out the possibility of managing in club football once again.

Roy will turn 65 in August and he has managed sixteen different teams in eight countries, including Inter Milan, Switzerland, Malmo, Udinese and Liverpool. It was when he guided Fulham from the depths of the relegation zone all the way to a Europa League Final loss to Atletico Madrid when he first caught the attention of England's big boy's. As he was soon to take on the role as Liverpool boss which was shortly lived, he was quick to take over at West Brom and make them an established Premier League side.
From West Brom the FA came calling and Roy guided England to within penalties of the European Champions Semi Finals, as England went out to Italy. He will also leave England with the unprecedented record of being the only England boss to be unbeaten in his reign as technically speaking the game against Italy will go down as a draw after 90 minutes.
Speculation of Hodgson’s successor have already been mounting up with current front-runners being: Jose Mourinho, Harry Redknapp, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. But the current bookmaker’s favourite is current U21s boss Stuart Pearce.
Current Odds:
Stuart Pearce- 3-1
Harry Redknapp- 4-1
Pep Guardiola- 7-2
Jose Mourinho- 9-1
Jurgen Klopp- 18-1
Roberto Martinez- 33-1
John Terry- 50-1

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article8363814.ece/ALTERNATES/w460/v2Stuart-Pearce.jpg

The story coming out of the FA Headquarters today is that the FA are looking to appoint a young talented manager and they aren't too bothered with a lack of experience. This news is likely to to rule out Harry Redknapp from the job and Jose Mourinho has already released a press statement stating his desire to carry on at Real Madrid.
Jose said that while he would like to manage in England again some day, he currently is only thinking about the task in hand Madrid as he he hopes to win the title again and win his third champions league trophy.
The bookmakers have now made Stuart Pearce an even bigger favourite while odds on Redknapp, Klopp and Mourinho have been drifting in the last couple of days. The FA have also announced that an appointment will be made by the end of the week.

Current Odds:
Stuart Pearce- 2-1
Pep Guardiola- 4-1
Andre Villas-Boas- 6-1
Roberto Martinez- 9-1
Jose Mourinho- 15-1
Harry Redknapp- 20-1
John Terry- 40-1
Jurgen Klopp- 50-1
Stuart Pearce is young? :P

And why do I have a feeling it's going to be John Terry? :D

And why do I have a feeling it's going to be John Terry? :D

Well even though he is 50, he is young in terms of managerial experience :)

And you will have to wait and see!

Pearce Prefers U21’s Role!

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02265/stuart-pearce1_2265093b.jpg

Stuart Pearce has stated in an interview that he would prefer to continue as the U21’s manager as he feels the intense media scrutiny that an England manager occupy's will be too much to handle. Also stating that his experience as manager of the GB football side made him release that he is not up to the task of being an England manager at this moment in his managerial career.
After this news was released the bookies were quick to make Pep Guardiola their odds on favourite as Pearce’s odds drifted from 2-1 all the way down to 15-1. And the odds of Roberto Martinez and John Terry have been shortening at an alarming rate according to a leading from Irish Bookies Paddy Power.
In an interview BBC Sport asked former England star Paul Ince who he would like to see take over the job. He replied saying he would prefer them to be English and that he would look to appoint someone like Steve Bruce or Ian Holloway. If a foreign manager was to take charge Ince said he would like it to be Roberto Martinez as he admires his philosophies which he feels would work well for England.

New Manager News Approaching!

The FA have announced that they will unveil their next England manager at a press conference tomorrow morning, so we will look at the prime candidates to walk out of that FA door to face worldwide press attention.

Pep Guardiola:
Not many managers have a better record than this man and he has only managed one team for four years and his trophy cabinet already holds- 3 La Ligas, 2 Copa Del Rays, 3 Supercopa’s, 2 Champions League’s, 2 Super Cups and 2 Club World Cups. Not Bad! The only problem from England's perspective is that he may want to stay in club football rather than delve into the depths of international management.
Odds: 2-1

Roberto Martinez:
He’s young and talented which fits the bill of what the FA want in a new manager and he’s great style of play, which is similar to that of Guardiola would certainly be welcomed by England fans. The one downfall in Martinez is his lack of experience of managing a top team and his only real achievements in the Premier League are keeping Wigan in it!
Odds: 5-1

Andre Villas-Boas:
Both young and successful, just look at his great reign as the manager of Porto as he brought the treble home. Seen as a young alternative to Mourinho, could he be the next best thing England could ask for?
Odds: 8-1

Harry Redknapp:
He may not be young but the experience Harry holds must be really hard for the FA to turn down an especially with him being English! I wouldn't be surprised to see him unveiled tomorrow as I have seen a lot of England fans who would love to see him take over.
Odds: 12-1

Stuart Pearce:
May have publicly announced he doesn't the job but would he seriously turn them down if the FA come calling. If the FA want to carry on from previous regimes then he’s the man and he also knows all the young players from his time as U21’s boss.
Odds: 14-1

John Terry:
Worth a punt! I would be very surprised if he’s announced tomorrow due to the fact it would be first job as a manager and he’s hardly the media’s greatest friend! The one positive would be that he does know all the players from his time as captain.
Odds: 18-1

John Terry! If he's the manager, he'll go bang all the players' wives when they are on the pitch :P

1200: Welcome everyone to decision day as over the next couple of hours I will take you through as England appoints their new manager in a press conference that starts in 15 minutes.

1205: The FA have really kept us in the dark other than saying they would like a young manager we've had to make our assumptions from the Bookmakers Odds. Which are usually right by the way!

1208: The front runners are: Guardiola, Martinez, Pearce, Villas Boas, Redknapp and Terry! Not a bad bunch! Who would you like to see become the new manager, get involved via Twitter or Email.

1212: Its’s nearly their as the press are firmly seated all that’s time to do is wait for the doors to open as David Bernstein leads to the new England manager to the front table.

1215: From Dave- I would love to see Guardiola be appointed he’s such a talented manager!
From Mike- I think the new man must be English so Pearce or Redknapp for me!

1216: Here they come!

1218: It’s …………………………………………………………….. JOHN TERRY!

1220: Incredible shock all around the room as nobody saw this one coming, the FA have done well in hiding this one.

1225: Time for the interview lots of journalists are itching to ask question on this one.

1230: Q: Why have you decided to appoint John?

1232: A: I think we all felt his experience at club level as a player will work well in international manager and we are also pleased that John has decided to quit club football to fully focus on his new job.

1236: Questions will now be asked to John.

1240: Q: Do you think your ready for a good start to enable you qualify for the World Cup in Brazil 2014?

1245: A: Yes defiantly, I’m already working for a positive start and I fully expect my team to qualify for Brazil but it won’t be easy!

1252: Q: Do you think you will be able to handle the pressure?

1257: A: yes as I managed it all through my career both in Club football and international football as a player so I should be able to manage.

1303: Q: What is going to be your tactical approach?

1306: A: I would like to encourage attractive passing football similar to those of some of the top European teams.

1310: Q: Do you see Rooney as the key player?

1314: A: Well Wayne is obviously a key player but we don’t want to just rely on him as for our nation to play well we need everybody to be on top form.

1318: Q: What are you going to do about the captain situation?

1323: A: I haven’t made a decision of yet and will make my mind up before our first game against Romania in August.

1327: Q: Experience or Youth John?

1333: A: A bit of both I think is best the right mix will enable us to be successful so their will be a certain amount of youngsters coming through over the next few months.

1340: Matt from Manchester- Shocked is not the word!
Andy Via Twitter- His friendship with the players could be the token of success for England.

1350: That is it for now and I will leave you with a picture of the new England manager!

New Staff

Assistant Manager:
First of all I decided I wanted a strong assistant with good stats in all areas who was also able to speak English. So after some searching around I decided to ask Steve Round from Everton, who gladly accepted. I terminated Ray Lewington’s contract as I didn't feel his stats were strong enough.

Coach:
I decided that I wanted a Defensive Coach, Midfield Coach, Attacking Coach and a Tactical Coach. So I first terminated Brian Eastwick’s contract as he was more of a youth coach than senior coach. I kept Gary Neville who will be my Defensive Coach, and will add more international experience to my backroom staff. I appointed Rodolfo Borrell from Liverpool as my Midfield Coach. Peter Beardsley came in from Newcastle as my Attacking Coach, another staff member with experience of playing for England. And finally Martin Keown was brought in as my Tactics Coach.

Goalkeeping Coach:
Easy decision here already had three strong goalkeeping coaches in: Simon Smith, Ray Clemence and David Watson so they all stayed and no need for anymore.

Physio:
Kept Gary Lewin as he’s, in my opinion one of the best physio’s in the world so no need for change.

U21’s Manager:
Stuart Pearce has had great success in this job over last couple of years so it wouldn't be fair to get rid of him.

U19’s Manager:
Terminated Noel Blake’s contract and replaced him with Mick Halsall as I felt that Mick had very good stats with youngsters.
