We are bringing news to you today, that after their fantastic Champions League final victory on penalties against Bayern Munich, Roberto Di Matteo has resigned as manager of Chelsea. Just 5 days after the final, Roman Abramovich has had talks with Di Matteo over the future plans of the club, although it is rumoured that Di Matteo did not believe that the club could better the results of the last season. Di Matteo took over as interim manager after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in March after a defeat away at West Brom.

We can also announce that ex-Chelsea manager Avram Grant is set to take over. Grant stepped from Chelsea's director of football down to a manager role in 2007, after Jose Mourinho left the Blues. He led Chelsea to their first ever Champions League final later that season, which they lost to Manchester United on penalties after a memorable slip for captain John Terry. He also led Chelsea to the FA Cup final, where they beat United in the first final at the new Wembley.

As for the future of the players at the club, Didier Drogba has now announced that he will leave Chelsea at the end of his contract, with a reported deal to move to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua, where ex-teammate Nicolas Anelka turns out.

Drogba will be leaving
It is sure that Grant will be ready for the new challenge, and he will be hoping to lead Chelsea to more scenes like those earlier this week.
