Well that’s my first season in the Premier league done and I’ve have to admit, it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it was going to be. Maybe I underestimated the ability of my squad? Or maybe we got lucky? Either way I’m going to be spending in the transfer window so that next season we can really consolidate ourselves in the top flight.

----------

First I would like to say I'm chuffed to bits that Will Hughes got 3rd place in the Young Player of the Year award. He's been outstanding all season and we would never have achieved a 12th place in the league with out him. I'm very confident that next season he can go on to win this award.

Onto the awards themselves I was shocked to see David Stockdale get the Golden Glove Award but to be fair he only conceded 42 goals in 38 appearances, which is highly impressive especially with a team that's just been promoted.

Nigel Clough getting Manager of the Year was well deserved as he guided Norwich to a 7th place finish - not bad for a team tipped for relegation at the start of the season.
Great for Hughes and Stockdale! I was pretty surprised about seeing Stockdale there with such a bad average rating! Bassong is pretty sold, if you need a defender, he's the best you'll find! Hughes deserved it more because it was his first year at the PL, meanwhile Hazard and Bale have tons of expierence in it! Great update Michael!
Cheers pal! Bassong was immense last season and was the main reason Norwich finished so high; his average rating for the season was 7.75!

Burnley Due Make England Debuts

http://i41.tinypic.com/2dsl9ox.jpg

I'm delighted to announce that two of my Burnley players have today made their full debuts for England, starting in a 2-0 victory against Croatia.

Jay Spearing played 80 minutes of the game and came away with a respectable 7.1 rating whiles Will Hughes played the entire match, also achieving a 7.1 rating.

I only signed them last season – Jay Spearing for a mere 1.8 million as he was deemed surplus by Liverpool (their loss!) and Will Hughes for 6 million from Championship club Derby, it's already looking like it could be the best money I ever spend at Burnley.

Transfers

http://i41.tinypic.com/2h30m12.jpg

Tom Ince
http://i41.tinypic.com/2q80izc.jpg
Tom Ince is a player I've been after since I first took over at Burnley, but due to financial reasons it's never been possible to even consider making a bid for him. But because of our Premier League status and a decent 12th place finish last season I made it our number one priority to sign him, and we quickly agreed a 7.5 million deal with Blackpool to bring him to the club.

Nathan Redmond
http://i39.tinypic.com/2343gj.jpg
Nathan Redmond is a player I’ve admired for along time, and like Tom Ince it’s only now I’ve been able to seriously consider it. We paid 9 million for him, which is a little more than I would have liked but I know he will be worth it in the long run.

Marcos Alonso
http://i41.tinypic.com/furztu.jpg
Marcos Alonso comes to us on a free transfer for Bolton, and will slot straight into the left back position. In my time at Burnley I’ve never been really settled on a first choice left back, but with Marcos I think we have a quality player who will hold down the position for many years to come.

Kolo Toure
http://i41.tinypic.com/34hb28j.jpg
If I’m being honest, the centre back position didn’t really need strengthening as we already have 4 quality centre backs at the club, but snapping up Kolo Toure was an offer I couldn’t refuse, especially since it was a free transfer. If I’d have tried to make this signing two years ago people would have laughed at me, but it just goes to show how far we’ve come as a club we when can sign players of Kolo’s calibre.

Iago Falque
http://i41.tinypic.com/amttep.jpg
I had Iago at the club all last season on loan and although he wasn’t always first choice he proved to me when he was playing what a talented individual he was. As soon as Tottenham but him for sale we put in an offer, and for 1.5 million we have a bargain.

Emmanuel Frimpong
http://i43.tinypic.com/2sb1g5k.jpg
Emmanuel comes to us on a season long loan from Arsenal, with the idea in mind that he will be first choice cover for Chris McCann & Jay Spearing but if he takes his chances there’s no reason why he can’t cement a place in the first team.

Dante Pesoli
http://i44.tinypic.com/10dxe2p.jpg
Some might say 4 million is a lot to spend on a 17-year-old youngster who has yet to play for the first team, but I can assure you this kid is going to be worth 10 times that one day. We’ve been scouting him for some time now and I firmly believe he could be our number one keeper within the next two seasons.
Brilliant signings, mate. Ince and Redmond will be brilliant players for you :)

So here we are again, my third season is approaching and I’ve never had a more talented squad available to me, but looking at our pre-season results you wouldn't think that. Now I know pre-season is all about gaining back fitness that was lost during the summer break but I'm a competitive person and I like to win every game.

The disappointing result to me was our 1-0 defeat to Barrow, all though the squad I played was a mixture of fringe players and youth players we where more than capable of going there and defeating a semi-professional, Blue Square Premier League team, and believe me I let the players know that after the game.

I have to mention the awesome 2-1 win against the famous Boca Juniors. There team was full of talent and to be fair we probably rode our luck at times but we dug in deep and pulled off a terrific victory.

Now onto our second season in the Premier League - let's hope we perform better than we did in pre-season.

Some good results like the win over Boca but don't worry about the Barrow game, these things happen and I'm confident you can do well in the forthcoming season :)
Ince will be massive for you and your club! I've got him to reach top heights of football!

Cheers pal, and I hope you're right, I fear the dreaded 'second season syndrome'!

I really hope so! He's been pretty average so far but from what everyone is telling me about him I know he's going to turn into a star. :)

--------------------

I’m quite happy with the way that the season started, the main thing is we are unbeaten and that has given the lads a lot of confidence and belief that we won’t suffer from the infamous ‘second season syndrome.’

It was pleasing to see Charlie Austin get a brace in the first game, he had an amazing first season for me scoring 35 goals in our promotion winning season, but struggled somewhat last season bagging only 13. I know the Premier League is a different standard to The Championship but I am keeping faith with Charlie, he is the main reason why we are here in the first place and I am sure he is the right man to lead us forward in the future – I want to see him win at least 1 England cap in my time at Burnley.

It was disappointing to have to go into extra time against Stevenage in the Capital One Cup but full respect to them, they played a fantastic game and to be fair where unlucky on the night. Next round we’ve got Derby County and I will be looking to progress into the next round. It’s about time we did well in a Cup competition whether that be this one or the FA Cup.

And lastly it looks like Will Hughes has carried on from where he left off last season scooping up the Young Player of the Month for August – this lad never fails to impress me and he is getting better and better every month. It’s worth noting Nathan Redmond also picked up 3rd spot in his first full month at the club, well-done lads.

Redmond Injury Blow

http://i41.tinypic.com/315zmsy.jpg

I really can’t believe it. I really, really can’t believe it! My star, 9 million signing Nathan Redmond injured whilst playing for England Under 21’s (not even the full team!)

I’m absolutely gutted for him. He was just starting to pick up form as well, scoring and getting Man of the Match in our recent game against Fulham. Two months is a hell of a long time to be out but at least he should be back in time for the busy Christmas period. I just hope this injury doesn’t leave any long-term damage as he has such a bright future ahead of him.

Get well soon Nathan.
